Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team
Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team (or Cleveland MRT) is one of five search and rescue teams based in the North East region of England, North East region of England. The team is based in the village of Great Ayton in North Yorkshire. They were called out to 61 incidents in 2019, and 58 in 2020. History The team was founded in 1965 and is currently (2020) staffed by 50 members, both men and women. Originally, the team was known as ''Cleveland Search and Rescue'', and was a sister operation to the Ryedale Search and Rescue Team. Both had formed in response to the number of people who were injured or lost attempting the Lyke Wake Walk. The team have twelve members trained in specialist recovery techniques in flooded water situations (swift water rescue). These skills were used during the 2015 flooding in York. Roseberry Topping is a distinctive hill in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated near Great Ayton and Newton under Roseberry. Guisborough
Guisborough ( ) is a market town and civil parish in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. It lies north of the North York Moors National Park. Roseberry Topping, midway between the town and Great Ayton, is a landmark in the national park. Helmsley
Helmsley is a market town and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, the town is located at the point where Ryedale leaves the moorland and joins the flat Vale of Pickering. Helmsley is situated on the River Rye on the A170 road, east of Thirsk, west of Pickering and some due north of York. The 2015–2016 Great Britain and Ireland floods were a series of heavy rainfall events which led to flooding during the winter of late 2015 and early 2016. 11 named storms produced record level rainfall from November 2015 - March 2016 in both monthly and seasonal accumulation records. Murder Of Jenny Nicholl
Jenny Nicholl was a woman who disappeared sometime on or after 30 June 2005 from the Richmond, North Yorkshire, Richmond area, North Yorkshire, England. In February 2008, David Hodgson was convicted of her murder despite the Murder conviction without a body, lack of a body, crime scene or body deposition site. Pan Am Flight 103 was a regularly scheduled Pan Am transatlantic flight from Frankfurt to Detroit via a stopover in London and another in New York City. North York Moors National Park Authority
The North York Moors is an upland area in north-eastern Yorkshire, England. It contains one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the United Kingdom. The area was designated as a National Park in 1952, through the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949. Covering an area of , the National Park has a population of 23,380. Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team
The Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT), is a voluntary organisation that undertakes search and rescue primarily in the Swaledale and Wensleydale area of the Pennines in North Yorkshire, England. Like other mountain rescue teams, SMRT does not confine itself to the immediate area and will respond to calls by emergency services and the public alike across a broad expanse of Northern England. History The team was formed in July 1968 with 12 local men; they now have a complement of 40 volunteers both male and female. In 2015, the SMRT signed a joint working agreement with the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to attend large scale flooding events and water rescues.
