Cleo Madison
Cleo Madison (born Lulu Bailey; March 26, 1883 – March 11, 1964) was a theatrical and silent film actress, screenwriter, producer, and director who was active in Hollywood during the silent era. Madison began her career on the stage. By 1910, she had begun performing as part of a theatre troupe known as the Santa Barbara Stock Company in California. In 1913, she was contracted by the Universal Film Manufacturing Company to begin appearing in feature films. Madison established a name for herself as an actress with performances in films such as ''The Trey o' Hearts'' (1914). She is also considered a pioneering female director with a number of shorts and two feature films, '' A Soul Enslaved'' (1916) and ''Her Bitter Cup'' (1916), to her credit. She made several efforts to set up a production company before leaving show business in 1924. She died from a heart attack in 1964 at the age of 80. ''The Trap'' is a 1913 American silent film, silent short film, short drama film directed by Edwin August, produced by Pat Powers (businessman), Pat Powers, and starring Murdock MacQuarrie, Pauline Bush (actress), Pauline Bush and Lon Chaney. The film is now considered lost film, lost. Chaney would later appear in an unrelated film The Trap (1922 film), of the same name in 1922. Plot A jealous girl, Jane, puts paint on her fiance Lon’s overcoat and becomes excited when she finds traces of the paint on another girl’s waist. But it develops that Lon’s brother Chance had worn the coat in the meantime, and she is pacified after an explanation. But later, Chance's wife Cleo finds traces of the paint on Jane's dress and accuses Chance of being unfaithful to her. All is explained in the end. The Haynes Automobile Company was an American automobile manufacturing company that produced automobiles in Kokomo, Indiana, from 1905 to 1924. The company was formerly known as the Haynes-Apperson company, and produced automobiles under that name from 1896 to 1905. Co-founder Elwood Haynes changed the name of the company after fellow co-founders Elmer and Edgar Apperson left to form the Apperson Brothers Automobile Company in 1901. Isadore Bernstein
Isadore Bernstein (November 26, 1876 – October 19, 1944) was an American screenwriter. He wrote screenplays for more than 60 films between 1914 and 1938. He was born in New York, New York and died in Hollywood, California from a heart attack. Bernstein was the West Coast studio manager for Carl Laemmle. Although he acted as Laemmle's representative concerning many business issues, he was not a principal as was Pat Powers in the formation of Universal Film Manufacturing Company (Universal Pictures). Bernstein was Carl Laemmle's brother-in-law.
