Clemens Weller
Frantz Clemens Stephan Weller (17 May 1838, Neustadt - 17 July 1900, Copenhagen) was a German-born Danish photographer. Biography He was a bookbinder and probably learned his trade in France as a teenager. In 1860, he moved to Copenhagen and, at some point, became a Danish citizen. He Initially worked for the photographer, Georg Emil Hansen, pasting and binding photographs, but apparently studied photography as well, as a letter from the poet, to Hans Christian Andersen, from 1866, mentions a "certificate" for Weller. In 1867, Georg joined with his brother, Niels Christian (a painter), and a bookseller's clerk named Albert Schou, to create the firm "Hansen & Schou". Two years later, Weller became a partner in the firm, which was renamed Hansen, Schou & Weller. Photographic Plate
Photographic plates preceded photographic film as a capture medium in photography, and were still used in some communities up until the late 20th century. The light-sensitive emulsion of silver salts was coated on a glass plate, typically thinner than common window glass. History Glass plates were far superior to film for research-quality imaging because they were stable and less likely to bend or distort, especially in large-format frames for wide-field imaging. Early plates used the wet collodion process. The wet plate process was replaced late in the 19th century by gelatin dry plates. A view camera nicknamed "The Mammoth" weighing was built by George R. Gyldendalske Boghandel, Nordisk Forlag A/S, usually referred to simply as Gyldendal () is a Danish publishing house. Founded in 1770 by Søren Gyldendal, it is the oldest and largest publishing house in Denmark, offering a wide selection of books including fiction, non-fiction and dictionaries. Prior to 1925, it was also the leading publishing house in Norway, and it published all of Henrik Ibsen's works. The Royal Library ( da, Det Kongelige Bibliotek) in Copenhagen is the national library of Denmark and the university library of the University of Copenhagen. It is among the largest libraries in the world and the largest in the Nordic countries. In 2017, it merged with the State and University Library in Aarhus to form a combined national library. Peter Elfelt
Peter Elfelt (1 January 1866 – 18 February 1931) was a Denmark, Danish photographer and film director known as the first movie pioneer in Denmark when he began making documentary films in 1897. Biography Peter Elfelt was born Peter Lars Petersen in Denmark on 1 January 1866. (He changed his name to Elfelt when he began making films.) He apprenticed in photography in Hillerød in 1893 with the photographer Carl Rathsack. He also studied with the camera builder Jens Poul Andersen. In 1893, Elfelt opened his own atelier in Copenhagen with his two brothers as his assistants. As his photographic skills became appreciated, his business flourished and by 1901 Elfelt was named "Kongelige Hoffotograf" (Royal Court Photographer). Neustadt (Dosse) is a town in the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin, Brandenburg, Germany with a population of 3,575 (as of 2010). It has a total area of 75.43 km², and lies close to the river Dosse.
