Clearwater Bay Golf Course
The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club () is a privately owned and run, members-only country club, located on the Clear Water Bay Peninsula in Sai Kung District, Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong. The club hosts the PGA Tour China Clearwater Bay Open yearly. History The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club was built at a cost of about HK$250 million by a number of wealthy people including Kenneth Fung, Run Run Shaw, and Yue-Kong Pao. Environmentalists criticised the project for the environmental damage the construction inflicted on the peninsula. A report by the Hong Kong Government agreed, claiming that the methods used for construction of the club and access roads resulted in "unnecessary scars". It also called the access roads a "major eyesore visible over a wide area". Clear Water Bay
Clear Water Bay () is a bay on the eastern shore of Clear Water Bay Peninsula of Hong Kong, located within Clear Water Bay Country Park. There are two beaches at Clear Water Bay: "Clear Water Bay First Beach" and "Clear Water Bay Second Beach". The name is also used to describe the area around the bay on the peninsula. Beaches During the summer, both beaches have life guards on duty. Changing rooms, lockers, shower facilities, toilets and rafts are available at both beaches. A BBQ area can only be found on the first beach, but there is a kiosk selling refreshment on the second beach. There is an unavoidable flight of stairs of about 100 steps for both beaches, so strollers and wheelchairs cannot be used to access the beaches. Both beaches are protected by shark nets after three fatal shark attacks occurred in 1995. Sai Kung District
Sai Kung District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China. The district comprises the southern half of the Sai Kung Peninsula, the Clear Water Bay Peninsula in the New Territories and a strip of land to the east of Kowloon. The New Territories is one of the three main regions of Hong Kong, alongside Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. PGA Tour China is a China-based men's professional golf tour as part of the PGA Tour's global expansion. The tour started in 2014. After a hiatus in 2017, the tour resumed in 2018. Sir Kenneth Fung Ping-fan, CBE, KStJ, LLD, DSocSc, JP (; 28 May 1911 – 16 May 2002) was a prominent Hong Kong politician and businessman. Biography Fung was born on 28 May 1911 to Fung Ping-shan, a co-founder of the Bank of East Asia, with his twin brother Fung Ping-wah.
