Clear Blue Sky
Clear Blue Sky was a British progressive rock band officially formed in London, England, but better known in Italy. History Clear Blue Sky (earlier known as Jug Blues) were discovered by Nirvana (British band), Nirvana musician Patrick Campbell-Lyons. Signed by Vertigo, they released their first self-titled album on that label, produced by Ashley Kozak. In 2003, the Italian record label, Akarma Records, reissued their first vinyl album. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Vertigo Records
Vertigo Records is a record company with United Kingdom origins. It was a subsidiary of the Philips/Phonogram record label, launched in 1969 to specialise in progressive rock and other non-mainstream musical styles. Today, it is operated by Universal Music Germany, and the UK catalogue was folded into Mercury Records, which was absorbed in 2013 by Virgin EMI Records, which returned to the EMI Records name in June 2020. History Vertigo was the brainchild of Olav Wyper when he was Creative Director at Phonogram. It was launched as a competitor to labels such as Harvest (a prog subsidiary of EMI) and Deram (Decca). Nirvana (British Band)
Nirvana are an English pop rock band formed in London in 1965. Patrick Campbell-Lyons
Patrick Campbell-Lyons (born 13 July 1943), is an Irish composer and musician who is one half of the cult symphonic-rock band, Nirvana, formed in London in 1967. Campbell-Lyons, a native of Lismore, County Waterford, was part of the West London music scene from the early 1960s playing in several bands. He was the vocalist and a founder member of a locally-popular R&B band ''Second Thoughts'' whose lineups included future record producer Chris Thomas, Thunderclap Newman founder/drummer Speedy Keen and two future members of prog-rock band Jade Warrior (Jon Field and Tony Duhig). Second Thoughts split up in late 1965 and after a year living in Sweden, Campbell-Lyons returned to London in late 1966. In early 1967 he formed Nirvana with Greek musician Alex Spyropoulos. Ashley Kozak
Ashley Kozak (c.1930 – 2008) was a British jazz bassist, record producer and artists' manager, best known as having been Donovan's manager. After working, and recording, with Tony Crombie and His Orchestra in 1954, together with leading UK-based jazz musicians such as Crombie, Dizzy Reece, Joe Temperley and Harry South, Kozak went on to join the Vic Ash Quartet, which recorded with Maxine Sullivan. He later joined the Don Rendell Sextet (1954–55) and The Ivor and Basil Kirchin Band (1955–56), together with Stan Tracey, and was later with the Basil Kirchin Small Band. He recorded again with Tony Crombie in 1957 for the 10" ''Long Player'', 'Rockin' with the Rockets', (''Columbia Records'' (UK:33S1108), with Red Mitchell on bass.
