Claves Records
Claves Records is a Swiss classical record label, which was founded in 1968 by Marguerite Dütschler-Hüber (1931–2006) in Thun. History Marguerite Dütschler-Hüber founded Claves with business partner Ursula Pfaehler when her piano teacher Jörg Ewald Dähler was unable to find a company willing to record and issue an LP of Bach preludes. The label specialised in Swiss music and artists such as flutist Peter-Lukas Graf and Lieder recitals by performers including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Teresa Berganza and Ernst Haefliger. Claves also launched the recording career of María Bayo. Claves Records SA was formally founded in 1968. In 2004, the label was acquired by the Clara Haskil foundation and then by Olivier Verrey who runs the company with other board members. Its first managing director was Antonin Scherrer who was succeeded by Thierry Scherz, In 2010 Patrick Peikert succeeded Scherz as managing director. Prague Philharmonic Orchestra
The Prague Philharmonic Orchestra was established in 1995, under the German conductor Friedemann Riehle. The orchestra has since produced many classical and film music recordings, working with labels such as Decca Records, Decca, EMI, Sony BMG and various international film studios. Internationally renowned soloists such as tenor Jonas Kaufmann or cellist Sol Gabetta have recorded CDs with the orchestra. The orchestra performs New Year's Eve Concerts, conducted by Riehle, and has also performed concerts at the Vienna State Opera, all major German concert halls, the Concertgebouw, Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and a special concert broadcast internationally from the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Ingolf Turban
Ingolf Turban (born 17 March 1964) is a German violinist. Life Born in Munich, Turban's mother was a pianist, his father a music-loving physician, his sister Dietlinde_Turban, Dietlinde an actress. At the age of 12 he was accepted into the violin class of in Munich. He also attended courses in the US with Jens Ellermann and Dorothy DeLay. In 1985, he became first concertmaster at the age of 21 of the Munich Philharmonic under Sergiu Celibidache. Celibidache's esteem was expressed in the ''bon mot'', "I am Celi and you are Turbi." Christian Ferras
Christian Ferras (17 June 1933 – 14 September 1982) was a French violinist. Early years Ferras was born at Le Touquet in 1933. He began studying the violin with his father. He entered the Conservatoire de Nice as a student of Charles Bistesi in 1941, and in 1943 obtained the First Prize. In 1944 he went to the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1946 he won the First Prize in both disciplines (violin and chamber music), and started his performing career with the Pasdeloup Orchestra under Albert Wolff, and later Paul Paray. He worked with Romanian violinist and composer George Enescu, who also acted as an instructor. The Violin Concerto by Federico Elizalde was premiered by Ginette Neveu in Paris in 1944, but Christian Ferras gave its London premiere under the direction of Gaston Poulet, in the presence of the composer, and made the world premiere recording on 7 November 1947, at the age of 14. Corey Cerovsek
Corey Cerovsek (born 24 April 1972) is a Canadian violinist, pianist, and mathematician. At age 12, he was the youngest student to receive a gold medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music. In 1992, Cerovsek was the recipient of the Virginia-Parker Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts. In 2006, Cerovsek with Steven Heyman were nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Chamber Music Performance. In 2008, Cerovsek received the MIDEM Classical Music Award for the Best Chamber Music for his recording with Paavali Jumppanen of the complete violin sonatas by Beethoven. Nathan Milstein
Nathan Mironovich Milstein ( – December 21, 1992) was a Russian-born American virtuoso violinist. Widely considered one of the finest violinists of the 20th century, Milstein was known for his interpretations of Bach's solo violin works and for works from the Romantic period. He was also known for his long career: he performed at a high level into his mid-80s, retiring only after suffering a broken hand. Michel Dalberto
Michel Dalberto (born 2 June 1955) is a French concert pianist. Biography Dalberto was born in Paris into a non-musical family. He began studying the piano at the age of three and a half. When he was twelve, he was introduced to Vlado Perlemuter (a favourite pupil of Alfred Cortot), and entered his class at the Paris Conservatoire in 1969 where he completed his studies over a period of nine years. Michel Dalberto first came to prominence winning the Clara Haskil Prize in 1975. Three years later he won First Prize in the Leeds International Piano Competition. Mélodie Zhao (; born September 7, 1994) is a classical pianist. She was born in Bulle, Switzerland. Biography Mélodie Zhao began studying the piano at age two. She studied first at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, with Jiaquan Chen until age nine. In 2004, she entered the Geneva Conservatory under the instruction of Mayumi Balet-Kameda and at 13 began working toward her Bachelor of Arts degree in music with Pascal Devoyon at the Geneva University of Music. At the age of 14, she gained her bachelor's degree with highest honours; she also received the François Dumont Prize for the best interpretation of a Beethoven sonata. Francesco Piemontesi
Francesco Piemontesi is a Swiss pianist. Life Born in 1983 in Locarno, he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover with Arie Vardi before closely collaborating with Alfred Brendel. He rose to international prominence with prizes at several major competitions, including the 2007 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. In 2009 he was awarded the fellowship of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust. From 2009 to 2011 he was chosen as a BBC New Generation Artist. Finghin Collins (born 31 March 1977) is an Irish pianist. He won first prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Vevey, Switzerland, in 1999. Studies and competitions Collins studied with John O'Conor at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin and with Dominique Merlet at thConservatoire de Musique in Geneva, Switzerland. Dmitri Bashkirov
Dmitri Aleksandrovich Bashkirov (russian: Дми́трий Алекса́ндрович Башки́ров; November 1, 1931 – March 7, 2021) was a Russian pianist and academic teacher. Trained in his hometown Tbilisi and Moscow, he began an international career as a soloist when he won the Marguerite Long Piano Competition in Paris in 1955. He taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1957 to 1991, and at the Queen Sofia College of Music in Madrid from 1991 to 2021. Clara Haskil
Clara Haskil (7 January 1895 – 7 December 1960) was a Romanian classical pianist, renowned as an interpreter of the classical and early romantic repertoire. She was particularly noted for her performances and recordings of Mozart. She was also a noted interpreter of Beethoven, Schumann, and Scarlatti. Biography Haskil was born into a Jewish family in Bucharest, Romania. Her father Isaac Haskil (1858–1899) immigrated to Romania from Bessarabia (then part of the Russian Empire); he died from acute pneumonia when Clara was only 4 years old.
