Clausura 2018 Liga MX Championship Stage
The Clausura 2018 Liga MX championship stage commonly known as ''Liguilla'' (playoffs) was played from 2 May 2018 to 20 May 2018. A total of eight teams competed in the championship stage to decide the champions of the Clausura 2018 Liga MX season. Both finalists qualified to the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League. Qualified teams Format *Teams are re-seeded each round. *Team with more goals on aggregate after two matches advances. *Away goals rule is applied in the quarterfinals and semifinals, but not the final. *In the quarterfinals and semifinals, if the two teams are tied on aggregate and away goals, the higher seeded team advances. *In the final, if the two teams are tied after both legs, the match goes to extra time and, if necessary, a shoot-out. *Both finalists qualify to the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League (in Pot 3). A total of eight teams competed in the championship stage to decide the champions of the Apertura 2017 Liga MX season. Both finalists qualified to the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League. Estadio Olímpico Universitario
Estadio Olímpico Universitario is a multi-purpose stadium located inside Ciudad Universitaria in Mexico City. It was built in 1952 and at that time was the largest stadium in Mexico. This stadium has a capacity of 72,000. The first major event held in the stadium was the 1955 Pan American Games. During the 1950s and the 1960s this stadium was used mostly for college American football matches between the largest Mexican public universities at the time: UNAM and IPN. From the late 1950s it was used for football matches, some American football matches and athletics. The Estadio Universitario ("University Stadium") – nicknamed ''El Volcán'' (''Spanish'' for "The Volcano") is a football stadium located on the campus of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico, in the metropolitan area of Monterrey. André-Pierre Christian Gignac (born 5 December 1985) is a French professional footballer who plays as a striker for Liga MX club Tigres UANL. Hugo Ayala Castro (born 31 March 1987) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Club career Atlas Hugo Ayala started his professional career with Atlas.
