Claud Elliott Lake Provincial Park
Claud Elliott Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada located on northern Vancouver Island approximately southeast of Port McNeill, British Columbia, Port McNeill, between the Tsitsika River and Bonanza Lake, near the community of Woss, British Columbia, Woss. The park was established in 1995, comprising 289 hectares. Its boundary was extended in 2004 to a current total area of approximately 328 hectares. Name origin Claud Elliott Lake and Claud Elliott Creek were named for a Mr. Claud Elliott who was born in Lincoln County, Ontario, Lincoln County, Upper Canada in 1859. Of United Empire Loyalist stock, the family moved to Bruce County, Ontario, Bruce County. He came to BC in June 1891 and in the summer of 1902 visited the north end of Vancouver Island for the first time. Woss, also commonly known as Woss Lake after the nearby lake of the same name, is a small village in the Nimpkish Valley, located southeast of Port McNeill and north of Campbell River on Highway 19, in northeastern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The estimated population of Woss and the Nimpkish Valley is 200. The town of Woss lies about 3 km north of Woss Lake, a long, narrow lake stretching about 10 km in a primarily north-south direction with a maximum width of about one km, the southern portion of which is part of Woss Lake Provincial Park. Claud Elliott Creek Ecological Reserve
The Claud Elliott Creek Ecological Reserve is located southwest of the junction of Claud Elliott Creek and the Tsitsika River on northern Vancouver Island, southwest of the community of Sayward, British Columbia, Sayward. The reserve, which was created to protect representative old-growth montane forests, was established in 1989, comprising approximately 231 hectares. It was expanded slightly in 2004 to a current total area of approximately 233 hectares. Lincoln County, Ontario
Lincoln County is a historic county in the Canadian province of Ontario. The county was formed in 1792. In 1845, the southern portion of Lincoln County was separated to form Welland County. In some census and election records from the late 19th century, the townships of Caistor and Gainsborough (which can be seen on the map below) were enumerated as part of Monck County, while Grantham and Niagara Townships were enumerated as part of Niagara County. However, neither Monck nor Niagara ever existed as incorporated municipal counties, but rather as electoral districts.
