Clarence Wijewardene
Vithana Kuruppu Arachchilage Clarence Arthur Somasinghe Wijewardena JP ( si, ක්ලැරන්ස් විජේවර්ධන, ta, கிளாரன்ஸ் விஜேவர்தன; 3 August 1943 – 13 December 1996), known professionally as Clarence Wijewardena, was a Sri Lankan singer, composer and musician. Considered one of the most respected musicians in Sri Lanka, Wijewardena revolutionized Sri Lankan Sinhala Pop Music with the use of the electric guitar in Sinhala music, in the 1960s. Due to his influence on Sinhala pop music, he is often named as the " father of Sri Lankan pop music". Personal life Clarence Wijewardena was born on 3 August 1943, in Haputale, Sri Lanka, to an estate medical practitioner. Haputale
Haputale ( si, හපුතලේ; ta, ஹபுதலே) is a town of Badulla District in the Uva Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council. The elevation is 1431 m (4695 ft) above the sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Haputale is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. The town has a cooler climate than its surroundings, due to its elevation. The Haputale pass allows views across the Southern plains of Sri Lanka. The South-West boundary of Uva basin is marked by the Haputale mountain ridges, which continue on to Horton Plains and Adam's Peak to the west. Annesley Malewana
Annesley Malewana () ( Sinhala: ඇනස්ලි මාලේවන) is a Sri Lankan musician. Often considered "The Prince of Sinhala Pop", Malewana is well known for being a master of contemporary Baila worked with popular musical bands The Moonstones and Super Golden Chimes. Personal life Malewana was born on June 13, 1947 in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka and attended St. Joseph's College, Colombo. He is married to Swarnamali and the couple has one son and one daughter. Musical career Upon leaving school, he met Clarence Wijewardena, and the two formed the group Moonstones in 1966. In the early 1960s, the Moonstones began performing songs composed by Wijewardena and sung by Malewana. Their first hit was ''Mango Nanda'', a song written about the maid who once worked at the home of Clarence's wife in the early days of their relationship. Apeksha
''Apeksha (The Hopes)'' is a 1978 Sri Lankan film directed by H.D. Premaratne and starring Malani Fonseka and Amarasiri Kalansuriya. Plot Niranjala (Malini Fonseka), a member of the English speaking elite, and Nimal ( Amarasiri Kalansooriya), a young university graduate, regularly meet at the gas station where he works. They are attracted to each other, and over time, start meeting outside of the station's confines. One of these occasions occurs at Niranjala's university fair. Nimal comes to meet her, but during the fair, one of Niranjala's friends is attacked by a gang of men. Nimal and his close friend Pradeep (Robin Fernando) help the friend get out of trouble. Later, when Nimal returns to the gas station, this gang of men come after him, and the fighting leads to the gas station owner firing Nimal.
