Clarence Tommerson
Clarence Leonard Tommerson (April 8, 1915 – January 6, 2000) was an American football Halfback (American football), halfback in the National Football League. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates (NFL), Pittsburgh Pirates in 1938. Tommerson was born on April 8, 1915, in La Crosse, Wisconsin and attended Logan High School (La Crosse, Wisconsin), Logan High School. He went on to play football at the College football, collegiate level at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In September 1979, he married Audrey Tommerson, with whom he went to nearly every Super Bowl during their marriage. Halfback (American Football)
A halfback (HB) is an offensive position in American football, whose duties involve lining up in the offensive backfield and carrying the ball on most rushing plays, i.e. a running back. When the principal ball carrier lines up deep in the backfield, and especially when that player is placed behind another player (usually a blocking back), as in the I formation, that player is instead referred to as a tailback. Sometimes the halfback can catch the ball from the backfield on short passing plays as they are an eligible receiver. Occasionally, they line up as additional wide receivers.
