Clarence Derwent Award
The Clarence Derwent Awards are theatre awards given annually by the Actors' Equity Association on Broadway in the United States and by Equity, the performers' union, in the West End in the United Kingdom. Clarence Derwent (23 March 1884 – 6 August 1959) was an English actor, director, and manager. He was educated at St Paul's School, London and the Birkbeck Institute. He joined Sir Frank Benson's stage company, with whom he stayed for five years. He then joined Annie Horniman's repertory company in Manchester. He was seen in a great variety of roles, both in London and New York. He made his last appearance on stage in 1948 in ''The Madwoman of Chaillot''. He died in New York at the age of 75. His will stipulated that two $500 prizes were to be given out annually to the best individual male and female supporting performances on Broadway and a £100 prize to the best supporting performances in the West End. The Actors' Equity Association (AEA), commonly referred to as Actors' Equity or simply Equity, is an American labor union representing those who work in live theatrical performance. Performers appearing in live stage productions without a book or through-storyline (vaudeville, cabarets, circuses) may be represented by the American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA). The AEA works to negotiate and provide performers and stage managers quality living conditions, livable wages, and benefits. A theater or production that is not produced and performed by personnel who are members of the AEA may be known as "non-Equity". Gerald Hiken
Gerald Hiken (May 27, 1927 – January 6, 2021) was an American actor. Career A native of Milwaukee, he studied acting at HB Studio in New York City. Hiken was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1980 for his performance in ''Strider''. He has performed in many other Broadway plays and has appeared in supporting and bit roles in various films including '' The Candidate'' (1972), ''Reds'' (1981), and ''Fat Man and Little Boy'' (1989). On television, Gerald Hiken was a frequent guest star on ''Car 54, Where Are You?'', a show created by his cousin Nat Hiken. In 1988, Gerald Hiken appeared in two consecutive '' Cheers'' episodes. ''Camino Real'' is a 1953 play by Tennessee Williams. In the introduction to the Penguin edition of the play, Williams directs the reader to use the Anglicized pronunciation "Cá-mino Réal." The play takes its title from its setting, alluded to '' El Camino Real'', a dead-end place in a Spanish-speaking town surrounded by desert with sporadic transportation to the outside world. Iggie Wolfington
Ignatius Wolfington (October 14, 1919 – September 30, 2004) was an American actor. He was the youngest member of the prominent Wolfington family of Philadelphia, operators of a carriage business early in the 20th century and brother of the founder of Wolfington Body Company in Exton, Pennsylvania. He married Lynn Wood, an actress, in 1972. Early life Wolfington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended West Philadelphia Catholic High School, then studied at the Bessie V. Logan Carlisle Ramsey Jr. (March 21, 1921 – June 26, 2000) was an American character actor of television and film for nearly 50 years. Frederic Warriner (June 2, 1916 – November 10, 1992) was an American stage actor. Early years Warriner was the son of Frederic E. Warriner and Hildreth Vail Warriner, who was an actress.
