Clare Frisby
Clare Kathleen Frisby (born 27 December 1966, Orpington) is a newsreader for '' Look North'' based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Early life She first attended Bennett Memorial Diocesan School. Later she was the head girl of Combe Bank School, an independent school in Kent, where took part in drama; the other joint head girl was killed aged 18 on 23 November 1984 in an accident, caused by a freak wave at Sandgate, Kent. The family home was in Mereworth. Frisby studied Politics at Hull University, graduating in 1989. Journalism career Frisby became a BBC News trainee in London in October 1989 and worked in newsrooms throughout the UK for the BBC and was one of the few female reporters in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. She was at BBC Radio York for four years. Her television début was as a presenter on ''Look North''. Orpington
Orpington is a town and area in south east London, England, within the London Borough of Bromley. It is 13.4 miles (21.6 km) south east of Charing Cross. Copmanthorpe () is a village and civil parish in the City of York in the English county of North Yorkshire, south-west of York, west of Bishopthorpe and close to Acaster Malbis, Askham Bryan and Askham Richard. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 4,262, reducing to 4,173 at the 2011 Census. The village was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. Bernard Atha
Bernard Peter Atha (27 August 1928 – 22 October 2022) was an English politician and actor. He served as Lord Mayor of Leeds and a major figure in the arts and sport in West Yorkshire and elsewhere; he also appeared in a number of films. Life and career Atha was born in Leeds on 27 August 1928, and educated at Leeds Modern School, now Lawnswood School, and the University of Leeds. In Ken Loach's film '' Kes'' (1969) Atha played the part of the careers officer who "throws Billy on the scrap heap". BBC Radio York
BBC Radio York is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of North Yorkshire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios in the Bootham area of York. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 59,000 listeners and a 3.7% share as of September 2022. Early history In May 1982, just over a year before the station was due to launch, a temporary service was provided to cover Pope John Paul II's visit to York. The service, which ran for just over 24 hours, operated on what was to be the station's primary MW frequency and was also broadcast on the other local stations in the Yorkshire region.
