Claire B. Bird
Claire Brayton Bird (October 27, 1868August 15, 1954) was an American lawyer from Wausau who served four years as a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Senate from the 25th District ( Langlade and Marathon Counties). Early life and education Bird was born on October 27, 1868, in Jefferson, Wisconsin. He graduated from Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin Law School. Career Bird began practicing law in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was appointed city attorney of Wausau in 1897 and served two years; was vice-president of the Wisconsin State Board of Education from 1917 to 1918, resigning when elected to the Senate; and served as president of the Wisconsin State Bar Association. Wisconsin Circuit Courts
The Wisconsin circuit courts are the general trial courts in the state of Wisconsin. There are currently 69 circuits in the state, divided into 10 judicial administrative districts. Circuit court judges hear and decide both civil and criminal cases. Each of the 249 circuit court judges are elected and serve six-year terms. On March 6, 2020, Governor Tony Evers signed bipartisan legislation to create 12 new circuit court branches, with four seats to be added each year from 2021 to 2023. Structure of the circuit courts The circuit court system is composed of 69 circuits, with 66 circuits serving a single county, and three circuits serving two counties each. Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
Beaver Dam is a city in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States, along Beaver Dam Lake and the Beaver Dam River. The population was 16,708 at the 2020 census, making it the largest city primarily located in Dodge County. It is the principal city of the Beaver Dam Micropolitan Statistical area. The city is adjacent to the Town of Beaver Dam. History Beaver Dam was first settled by Thomas Mackie and Joseph Goetschius in 1841, and by 1843 had a population of almost 100. The city was named for an old beaver dam located in a stream flowing into Beaver Dam River. The area had also been known as ''Okwaanim'', Chippewa for beaver dam. The community was incorporated as a city on March 18, 1856. That same year the Milwaukee Railroad reached the area, encouraging further growth.
