City Of Morwell
The City of Morwell was a local government area about east-southeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of , and existed from 1892 until 1994. History Originally split between the Shires of Traralgon and Narracan, Morwell was first incorporated as a shire on 22 May 1892. On 11 December 1916, parts of the Boolarra and Yinnar ridings were annexed to the Shire of Mirboo. On 24 September 1947, under the terms of the ''State Electricity Commission (Yallourn Area) Act 1947'', a town was proclaimed on at the Narracan-Morwell border; this self-governing area, under the auspices of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, came to be known as the Yallourn Works Area, and at one point housed over 5,000 workers from the nearby coal mines. Latrobe Valley
The Latrobe Valley is an inland geographical district and urban area of the Gippsland region in the state of Victoria, Australia. The traditional owners are the Brayakaulung of the Gunai nation. The district lies east of Melbourne and nestled between the Strzelecki Ranges to the south and the Baw Baw Ranges, part of the Great Dividing Range, to the north. Mount St Phillack () is the highest peak to the north of the Latrobe Valley, due north of Moe. The highest peak to the south is Mt Tassie (), south of Traralgon. State Electricity Commission Of Victoria
The State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV, ECV or SEC) is a government-owned electricity supplier in Victoria, Australia. It was set up in 1918, and by 1972 it was the sole agency in the state for electricity generation, transmission, distribution and supply. Control of the SECV was by a Board of Commissioners appointed by the Victorian Government. After 1993, the SECV was disaggregated into generation, transmission and distribution companies, which were further split and then privatised in the mid to late 1990s. However, electricity supply agreements with the Portland and Point Henry aluminium smelters were retained by SECV, which continued as their electricity supplier. Yallourn North, Victoria
Yallourn North is a town in the City of Latrobe, Victoria, Australia. It is approximately eight kilometres north-east of Moe, and 146 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. Prior to 1947 Yallourn North was known as "Brown Coal Mine". The Post Office opened on 3 September 1917 as Brown Coal Mine and was renamed Yallourn North in 1947. This tiny hilltop town contains many churches, including the only Serbian Orthodox Church and Mosque in the region. Hazelwood North is a locality in Victoria, Australia. It has a population of 1220 (as of the 2006 census). Max Cranwell, who died in a 2009 plane crash in Papua New Guinea, resided in Hazelwood North until his death. Boolarra is a small township located in the Latrobe Valley, in central Gippsland, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. At th2016 Census Boolarra had a population of 973 with 48% males and 52% females and an average age of 50. The Boolarra Folk Festival is held in the town every year in March and attracts music lovers from around Australia and the world.
