City Vision (Auckland, New Zealand Political Ticket)
City Vision is a centre-left coalition of two political parties, the New Zealand Labour Party and the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, and community independents who contest Auckland Council (and previously Auckland City and Auckland Regional Council) elections every three years. They have usually caucused in affiliation with Labour Party councillors and progressive independents. History City Vision originated in 1998 as a centre-left electoral ticket representing the local Labour, Green parties, and other progressive candidates in the Auckland local council elections. It was formed to challenge the centre-right Citizens and Ratepayers Association (C&R), which had dominated control of the Auckland City Council since the C&R's formation in the 1930s. USA Broadcasting
USA Broadcasting was an American television broadcasting company owned by the veteran entertainment industry executive Barry Diller. This company was the over-the-air broadcasting arm of USA Networks. Before founding USA Broadcasting, Diller was a helper in Gulf+Western's failed Paramount Television Service and News Corporation's new Fox Broadcasting Company that was launched on October 9, 1986. USAB dates back on in 1995 when Diller purchased Silver King Broadcasting from Lowell W. "Bud" Paxson and Roy Speer. Paxson and Speer had previously assembled the group to expand Home Shopping Network onto broadcast television. However, the Home Shopping Network split from Silver King Broadcasting in 1992 and not return until after Diller gained ownership of the company. John Banks (New Zealand Politician)
John Archibald Banks (born 2 December 1946) is a New Zealand former politician. He was a member of Parliament for the National Party from 1981 to 1999, and for ACT New Zealand from 2011 to 2014. He was a Cabinet Minister from 1990 to 1996 and 2011 to 2013. He left Parliament after being convicted of filing a false electoral return – a verdict which was later overturned. In between his tenures in Parliament, he served as Mayor of Auckland City for two terms, from 2001 to 2004 and from 2007 to 2010. When seven former smaller councils were combined into one to run the Auckland 'supercity' in 2010, Banks unsuccessfully ran for mayor again. The electoral return that he filed after that campaign, detailing donations received and campaign expenses, was the subject of Banks' conviction and eventual acquittal. 2013 Auckland Local Elections
The 2013 Auckland local elections took place between 20 September and 12 October and were conducted by postal vote. The elections were the second since the merger of seven councils into the Auckland Council, which is composed of the mayor and 20 councillors, and 149 members of 21 local boards. Twenty-one district health board members and 41 licensing trust members were also elected. The previous elections were in 2010. Early (not final) voting figures are below. The 2022 Auckland local elections took place between September and October 2022 by postal vote as part of nation-wide local elections. The elections were the fifth since the merger of seven councils into the Auckland Council, which is composed of the mayor and 20 councillors, and 149 members of 21 local boards. Thirty-five members of 5 licensing trusts were also elected. Mayoral election The incumbent mayor, Phil Goff, did not stand for re-election. Wayne Brown was elected mayor. Governing body elections Twenty members were elected to the Auckland Council, across thirteen wards, using the first past the post vote system. The final candidate list was released on 16 August. Albert-Eden Local Board
The Albert-Eden Local Board is one of the 21 local boards of the Auckland Council, and is one of the two boards overseen by the council's Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa ward councillors. The Albert-Eden board, named after the two volcanic cones in the board area: Mount Albert and Mount Eden, covers the suburbs of Balmoral, Epsom, Greenlane, Kingsland, Morningside, Mount Albert, Mount Eden, Owairaka, Point Chevalier, Sandringham, and Waterview. Len Brown
Leonard Charles Brown (born 1 October 1956)) is a former mayor of Auckland, New Zealand, and former head of the Auckland Council. He won the 2010 Auckland mayoral election on 9 October 2010 and was sworn in as Mayor of Auckland on 1 November 2010, being the first to hold that title for the amalgamated Auckland "Super City", and was re-elected in 2013. Brown had previously been elected mayor of Manukau City in October 2007, the second time he ran for that office. Brown is married to Shirley Anne "Shan" Inglis, and has three daughters. Mike Lee (New Zealand Politician)
Michael Lee is a New Zealand local government politician. He has been the Councillor for Waitematā and Gulf on Auckland Council since October 2022, an office he previously held from 2010 to 2019. He was a member of the Auckland Regional Council from 1992 to 2010 and was its final Chair from 2004 to 2010. Political career Auckland Regional Council Lee was first elected to the Auckland Regional Council as an Alliance candidate in a by-election in 1992. He was re-elected as a councillor at every election thereafter until the regional council's dissolution in 2010. Richard Northey
Richard John Northey (born 28 April 1945) is a New Zealand politician. He was an MP from 1984 to 1990, and again from 1993 to 1996. He served on the Auckland Council between 2010 and 2013, and is a member of the Labour Party.
