City Country Alliance
The City Country Alliance (CCA, initially One Nation Queensland) was a short-lived Australian political party, operating exclusively in Queensland, that briefly held six Queensland state parliamentary seats. It was founded in the wake of Pauline Hanson's One Nation experiencing severe ructions in Queensland, the home state of founder Pauline Hanson. One Nation had made a surprisingly good showing at the 1998 state election, winning 11 seats in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. However, in 1999, five MLAs seceded to sit as independents, in protest at the centralisation of party affairs in Sydney, costing One Nation official status in the legislature. Amid delays in the Supreme Court of Queensland acting on an appeal of One Nation's deregistration in Queensland, the five remaining One Nation MLAs tried to register a separate Queensland party. Bill Feldman
William Patrick Feldman (born 22 February 1958) is a former Australian politician. Born in Kingaroy, Queensland, Feldman was a police officer before entering politics working close with David Dalgleish, having attained the rank of sergeant in 1994. On 7 May 1978 he had married Gail, with whom he has two children, Dannielle and Luke. In 1998, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland as a member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation, representing the seat of Caboolture. He was the parliamentary leader until December 1999, when he led his remaining colleagues out of One Nation to form the City Country Alliance, of which he became leader. His seat was abolished in 2001 and he contested its replacement, Pumicestone, but was defeated by Labor's Carryn Sullivan, whose husband Jon Sullivan Feldman had defeated in Caboolture in 1998. 2001 Queensland State Election
An election was held in the Australian state of Queensland on 17 February 2001 to elect the 89 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The result of the election was the return of the Labor Party (ALP) government of Premier Peter Beattie, with an increased majority. Labor won 66 seats, easily the most it has ever won in Queensland and one of Labor's best-ever results nationwide. There was a 10.07% swing towards Labor, while One Nation suffered a 13.98% swing against it, losing eight seats (five of which were held by the newly formed City Country Alliance after an internal split in December 1999). The longstanding coalition between the Nationals and Liberals, led by Nationals leader (and former premier) Rob Borbidge recorded only a 2.39% swing against it. Burdekin is an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in the state of Queensland, Australia. Centred on the Ayr–Home Hill region, the electorate also includes some of Townsville's southern semi-rural localities as well as the coal-mining towns of Collinsville, Moranbah and Clermont. The Burdekin River flows through part of the electorate. History The 1949 redistribution abolished the electoral district of Bowen. Lockyer is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The district consists primarily of Gatton and Laidley Shires and northern parts of Beaudesert Shire. It includes the major town of Gatton and a number of smaller centres including Laidley, Helidon and Withcott. Jack Paff
Jack Kelvin Paff (born 11 May 1938) is a former Australian politician. Early life Paff was born in Taree, New South Wales. He served in the Citizens Military Force and rose to the position of sergeant. He was a stationmaster with New South Wales Government Railways and then served in the Queensland Police Force. Politics In 1998, Paff was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland as a member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation, representing the seat of Ipswich West. He remained in One Nation until December 1999, when he and the other One Nation MPs left the party to form the City Country Alliance under the leadership of Bill Feldman. David Bruce Dalgleish (born 13 October 1962) is a former Australian politician who served as the state member of Hervey Bay, a city councillor, and deputy mayor of the Fraser Coast region. Born in Epping, he was a licensed motor mechanic, welder and LPG fitter before entering politics, and owned a transport business. In 1998, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland as a member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation, representing the seat of Hervey Bay. He remained in the party until December 1999, when he and the other remaining One Nation MPs formed the City Country Alliance under the leadership of Bill Feldman.
