Cinema Of Belarus
The Cinema of Belarus began on 17 December 1924 with the creation by decree of what later became Belarusfilm studio. The studio was moved to Minsk in 1939. Film production was interrupted by World War II, and restarted in 1946, when the studio assumed its current name. Most of the output has been in Russian rather than Belarusian. Belarusfilm is also a co-organizer of the Listapad film festival held in Minsk, Belarus in November. Franz + Polina
''Franz + Polina'' is a 2006 Russian war romance film set in 1943 in occupied Belarus. It tells the story of Franz, a Waffen-SS soldier who deserts, and Polina, a Belarusian woman whose village is razed and people massacred. The film received several accolades, including the 2007 FIPA D'Or Grand Prize. Plot Franz stays at a Belarusian village and falls in love with Polina. The Nazis settled as friendly sympathizers in an effort to gain the confidence of the villagers while they await the order burn the villages to the ground and kill the inhabitants. Franz kills his commanding NCO after he attempts to kill Polina's mother and Franz's new found love Polina. When her partisan brother returns he whispers to Polina to get Franz away and she passes Franz off as her deaf-mute brother. A documentary film or documentary is a non-fictional film, motion-picture intended to "document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education or maintaining a Recorded history, historical record". ''A Lesson of Belarusian'' ( pl, Lekcja białoruskiego) is a 2006 documentary by Polish director Mirosław Dembiński. It follows the activities of several Belarusian pro-democracy youth activists in the four weeks running up to the highly controversial presidential re-election of Alexander Lukashenko on March 19, 2006. A short film is any motion picture that is short enough in running time not to be considered a feature film.
