The Dayton Falcons were a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III junior ice hockey team that competed in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The team was based in Centerville, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton, Ohio, and the team's home ice was South Metro Sports. Franchise history The team was previously known as the Queen City Steam from 2007 to 2013 after replacing the former Cincinnati Jr. Cyclones that had folded at the end of the previous season. In 2013, the Steam re-branded as the Cincinnati Swords after the merger of two youth hockey programs in the Cincinnati area. The Swords name is a homage to the former American Hockey League team of the same name. On August 14, 2014, the NA3HL approved the sale of the Cincinnati Swords to the Miami Valley Hockey Association owned by Ryan and Jim Colville. The Peoria Mustangs are a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III ice hockey team in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The team plays their home games at the Owens Center in Peoria, Illinois. The players, ages 16–20, carry amateur status under Junior A guidelines and hope to earn a spot on higher levels of junior ice hockey in the United States and Canada, Canadian major junior, collegiate, and eventually professional teams. The Chicago Hitmen were a Junior A Tier II ice hockey team based out of the Chicago region. NAHL team history The Chicago Hitmen played in the North American Hockey League from 2010 to 2012. The team first played in the 1,000-seat West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. On June 4, 2010, the team announced that Steve Pronger was signed as head coach, coming to the Hitmen after serving as the head coach of the Chicago Blaze of the AAHL. Pronger was replaced prior to the 2011–12 season by Brent Agrusa. The team also relocated to the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, Illinois on a five-year lease. During the 2011–12 season, the Hitmen were reportedly locked out of the Fox Valley Ice Arena due to unpaid bills. The Dubuque Thunderbirds were a Tier III junior ice hockey team based in Dubuque, Iowa that played in the multipurpose Five Flags Event Center from 2001 through 2010. The Thunderbirds franchise was formed to fill a vacancy for Dubuque hockey fans after the original Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League relocated operations to Tulsa, Oklahoma as the Tulsa Crude.
