Cienciano
Club Sportivo Cienciano is a professional football club based in Cusco, Peru that currently plays in the Peruvian Primera División. The club was founded in 1901 by a group of students of the ''Colegio Nacional Ciencias del Cusco'' (National Science School of Cusco). They decided to give the club its name based on the word ''Ciencias'', which means "Science". It gained worldwide recognition after defeating River Plate in the finals of the 2003 Copa Sudamericana and Boca Juniors in the 2004 Recopa Sudamericana. To this day, Cienciano is the only Peruvian club to win an international competition. 2021 Liga 1 (Peru)
The 2021 Liga 1 de Fútbol Profesional (known as the Liga 1 Betsson 2021 for sponsorship reasons) was the 105th season of the Peruvian Primera División, the highest division of Peruvian football. A total of 18 teams competed in the season, with Sporting Cristal coming in as defending champions. The season was originally scheduled to start on 26 February 2021, while the draw, which was originally scheduled to take place on 5 February 2021, was postponed due to the effects of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru. Because of this, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) also postponed the start of the tournament, with 12 March 2021 as the new date. Alianza Lima were the champions, winning their twenty-fourth league title by defeating Sporting Cristal in the finals by a 1–0 aggregate score. 2001 Torneo Descentralizado
The 2001 Torneo Descentralizado, was the 85th season of the top category of Peruvian football (soccer). It was played by 12 teams. The national champion was Alianza Lima. Competition modus The national championship was divided into two half-year tournaments, the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura. Each was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. The winners of each tournament played for the national title in a two-legged final. Should the same team have won both tournaments, they would have been automatic champions. Qualification to CONMEBOL's Copa Libertadores was won by each tournament winner and the winner of a play-off between the teams that placed second in each tournament. Freddy Ternero
Freddy Santos Ternero Corrales (March 26, 1962 – September 18, 2015) was a Peruvian football player and football manager. Ternero was the Mayor of District of San Martín de Porres in Lima, Peru for the periods of 2007 - 2010 and 2011 - 2014. Playing career Club During his playing career Ternero played for several clubs in Peru, most notably Universitario de Deportes. Managerial career Ternero started his coaching career as assistant to Sergio Markarián at Universitario de Deportes. When Markarián resigned, Ternero was given his first opportunity to work as a club manager. In 1994, he took over at Cienciano, helping the club to avoid relegation. In 1995, he also had a spell with Alianza Atlético. Club Alianza Lima, popularly known as Alianza Lima or simply Alianza, is a Peruvian professional sports club based in La Victoria District of Lima, Peru. It is widely known for having one of the most historical and successful football teams in Peru; they have won a total of twenty-five league titles of the Peruvian Primera División and are currently the oldest team playing in that competition, since the club was founded in 1901. Estadio de la UNSA (official name) is a multi-purpose stadium located in Arequipa, Peru. The stadium was built by the University of San Agustín in the early 1990s and named after the Virgin Chapi. Due to its size, the term ''Monumental'' is added to its name. The stadium was largely financed by a lottery fund-raiser held by the university itself. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, named as ''Copa Sudamericana'' (; pt, Copa Sul-Americana ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 2002. It is the second-most prestigious club competition in South American football. CONCACAF clubs were invited between 2004 and 2008. Carlos Lugo (Paraguayan Footballer)
Carlos Maria Lugo Aquino (born 30 May 1976) is a Paraguayan football defender. He currently plays for Sport Boys in Peru. Lugo started in the youth divisions of Olimpia Asunción he then had a spell with All Boys in Argentina before playing in the professional squad of Club Cerro Corá. Lugo then moved to Cienciano of Perú where he was part of the team that won the Copa Sudamericana and Recopa Sudamericana.
