Ciarán Byrne
Ciarán Byrne (born 6 December 1994) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the St Mochta's club at senior level for the Louth county team. He previously played professional Australian rules football for the Carlton Football Club. His nickname ("Casey") was the result of his younger sister's inability to pronounce ''Ciarán'', and was used during his time at Carlton. Early career Byrne was a talented prospect in Gaelic football. He was selected for the Louth county team panel at the age of 18, and scored five points in a 2013 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship qualifier match against Kildare at Newbridge. Byrne played for Ireland in both Tests of the 2013 International Rules Series. AFL career In August 2013, Byrne signed a two-year Category B rookie contract AFL club Carlton. Louth County Football Team
The Louth county football team represents Louth in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Louth GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Louth's home ground is Drogheda Park, Drogheda. The team's manager is Mickey Harte. The team last won the Leinster Senior Championship in 1957, the All-Ireland Senior Championship in 1957 and has never won the National League. Anterior Cruciate Ligament
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of a pair of cruciate ligaments (the other being the posterior cruciate ligament) in the human knee. The two ligaments are also called "cruciform" ligaments, as they are arranged in a crossed formation. In the quadruped stifle joint (analogous to the knee), based on its anatomical position, it is also referred to as the cranial cruciate ligament. The term cruciate translates to cross. This name is fitting because the ACL crosses the posterior cruciate ligament to form an “X”. It is composed of strong, fibrous material and assists in controlling excessive motion. Louth () is a village at the heart of County Louth, Ireland. It is roughly 11 km south-west of the town of Dundalk, 10.9 km to neighbouring town Ardee. The village is approximately 15 km south-east of Carrickmacross town in County Monaghan. The village gave its name to the county. Etymology The village is named after Lugh, a god of the ancient Irish, and may once have been the site of a shrine dedicated to the god. The 2016 AFL season was the 120th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989.
