Chơn Thành is a town of Bình Phước province, in the region of Vietnam. As of 2021 the town had a population of 121,083. The town covers an area of 390.34 km². The town seat lies at Hưng Long ward. District-level Town (Vietnam)
District-level town (thị xã), a type of second tier subdivision of Vietnam is divided into 713 units along with urban district, district, municipal city, and provincial city have equal status. Also by virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, town are officially classified into Class-3 or Class-4. The towns may only be a capital of a province, but not of a municipality as the Second Tier unit. At the Third Tier, Town is divided into wards and communes. Most provincial capitals were once towns, but now most of them have become provincial cities. District level In Vietnam, there are other kinds of district-level urban subdivision: urban districts ( vi, quận), districts and provincial cities. The Vietnamese government often groups the various provinces and municipalities into three regions: Northern Vietnam, Central Vietnam, and Southern Vietnam. Đông Nam Bộ (literally "Southeast region") is a region in Vietnam. Districts (huyện), also known as rural districts, are one of several types of second-tier administrative subdivisions of Vietnam, the other types being urban districts (''quận''), provincial cities (), municipal city (), and district-level towns (). The districts are subdivisions of the first-tier divisions, namely the provinces and municipalities. Districts are subdivided into third-tier units, namely townships and communes. Battle Of Ông Thành
The Battle of Ong Thanh was fought at the stream of that name (Ông Thành) on the morning of 17 October 1967, in Chơn Thành District, at the time part of Bình Dương Province, South Vietnam, today in Bình Phước Province. During the first few months of 1967, the Viet Cong (VC) absorbed heavy losses as a result of large-scale search and destroy missions conducted by the United States Army, and it prompted North Vietnamese leaders to review their war strategy in South Vietnam. In light of the setbacks which People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and VC forces had experienced early in 1967, PAVN General Trần Văn Trà suggested that PAVN and VC forces could still be victorious if they inflicted as many casualties as possible on U.S. military units, hoping that the Americans would conclude that the war was too costly and withdraw from Vietnam.
