Churence Rogers (born June 3, 1953) is a Canadian politician from Newfoundland and Labrador, who was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in a by-election on December 11, 2017. He represents the electoral district of Bonavista—Burin—Trinity as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada caucus. Early life Churence Rogers was born and raised in Centreville-Wareham-Trinity. Political career He served as Centreville-Wareham-Trinity Mayor from 2009 to 2017, and previously served as Mayor of Harbour Breton from 1997 to 2003. From 2011 to 2015, Rogers also served as President of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL). Under his leadership, MNL negotiated a new fiscal framework arrangement with the provincial government that invested millions of dollars annually into municipalities across Newfoundland and Labrador, helping to improve the lives of families throughout our province. He represented the district of Bonavista North in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 2002 to 2011 as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Bonavista North was a provincial electoral district for the House of Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It existed from when Newfoundland joined confederation in 1949 until 2015. As of 2011 the district had 6,956 eligible voters. When it was abolished in 2015, it contained the communities of: Trinity, Centreville, Wareham, Indian Bay, Greenspond, Valleyfield, Badger's Quay, Pool's Island, Brookfield, Wesleyville, Pound Cove, Templeman, Newtown, Cape Freels, Lumsden, Deadman's Bay, Musgrave Harbour, Ladle Cove, Aspen Cove, Carmanville, Noggin Cove, Frederickton, Davidsville, Main Point, Gander Bay South, Clarke's Head, Victoria Cove, and Wing's Point. Harbour Breton is a small fishing community on the Connaigre Peninsula in Fortune Bay, on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland in Canada. It is the largest center on the Connaigre Peninsula and was long considered the unofficial capital of Fortune Bay. During the 1960s many communities were resettled into Harbour Breton.
