The Church of the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception ( az, Müqəddəs Bakirə Məryəm kilsəsi, russian: Церковь Непорочного Зачатия Пресвятой Девы Марии) is a Roman Catholic church in Baku, Azerbaijan. The original church also named Church of the Immaculate Conception operated from 1915 to 1931, when it was ordered destroyed by the Soviet government. In 2006, a new Catholic church bearing the same name was rebuilt in a different spot of Baku. On 29 April 2007 the new church was consecrated by Apostolic Nuncio in Transcaucasia Monsignor Claudio Gugerotti. History In 1997, the Catholic community of Baku was re-established. The Church conducts Mass every day in English, Konkani, and Portuguese. The colonial Portuguese Baroque style church was first built in 1541 as a chapel on a hill side overlooking the city of Panjim. It was eventually replaced by a larger church in the 1600s as part of Portuguese Goa's religious expansion. The Church of the Immaculate Conception is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Żurrieq in Malta serving the area referred to as ''in-Nigret''. History The present church was built on the site of a previous chapel dedicated to the Annunciation which was deconsecrated by Bishop Miguel Juan Balaguer Camarasa on 24 November 1658. The church was built by commander James Togores de Valemuola and was finally consecrated by the parish priest of the village Reverend Karm Delicata on 11 October 1739. The Church of the Immaculate Conception is a wayside Roman Catholic church located in what is known as Wied Gerżuma or Gerżuma valley, limits of Rabat, Malta. History The chapel originated in 1736 on lands owned by the Fondazione Paola which was a foundation that supported the building of sailing boats for the knights. The chapel was founded by Grand master António Manoel de Vilhena. Near the chapel is an arch on which is the coat of arms of Antoine de Paule, the Grand master who founded the Fondazione Paola and an inscription. The chapel was blessed by Fra Giuseppe Ruggier, the chaplain of the order, representing the grand prior of St John's Conventional church in Valletta. Since the church was the property of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the property was inherited by the subsequent governments that governed Malta after the expulsion of the order from Malta in 1798. The Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady ( mt, Knisja Parrokjali tal-Immakulata Kunċizzjoni) is a Roman Catholic parish church in Ħamrun, Malta. It was built between 1958 and 1963 and it took over the role of an oratory dedicated to the Immaculate Conception which had been established in Ħamrun in 1923. It has been a parish church since 1968. History An oratory dedicated to the Immaculate Conception was established in Ħamrun by Paul Burlo on 15 May 1923. Initially set up within a private dwelling, its location was moved several times over the next two decades. After Burlo died in 1950, the priest Edgar Vella took over the oratory and made plans to construct a permanent church. With assistance from Archbishop Mikiel Gonzi and pastor Matthew Chircop from the St Cajetan parish, Vella acquired a plot of land which formerly contained railway tracks of the Malta Railway to build the new building. The Church of the Immaculate Conception known also as Sarria Church is a Roman Catholic Rotunda church in Floriana, Malta. History The original chapel was built in 1585 with funds provided by the Knight Fra Martin Sarria Navarra. The Collegiate Church of the Immaculate Conception ( mt, Il-Knisja Kolleġġjata tal-Immakulata Kunċizzjoni) is a Roman Catholic parish church located in Cospicua, Malta. History The original parish church stood on the location of the present church. It was built before the Great Siege of Malta of 1565. It became a parish in 1586. Because of the growing number of parishioners it was decided to enlarge the church. But by 1684 the church became too small thus the construction of the present church commenced. The designs of the church are attributed to Vincenzo Casanova while those of the bell towers are attributed to Lorenzo Gafà. The church was finished around 1730. In 1822 the church was elevated to the status of a collegiate church. The dome includes paintings of David, Ezekiel, Moses and Isaiah by Giuseppe Calì from 1884. The Church of the Immaculate Conception, also known as Adam and Eve's, is a Roman Catholic church run by the Franciscans and it is located on Merchants Quay, Dublin. History During the Dissolution reign of King Henry VIII around 1540 the Friary at Francis Street, the site of the current church of St. Nicholas of Myra (Without), Francis Street, was confiscated and the community was dispersed. In 1615 a new friary was built on Cook Street. A chapel on the site was destroyed in 1619 and later rebuilt. The Franciscans secretly said Mass in the Adam and Eve Tavern, where the popular name of the present church comes from. In 1759 a newer church was built, which was later replaced by the current church. After the Catholic Emancipation in 1829, they set about building a church and laid the foundation stone of the current church in 1834.
