Chundikuli ( ta, சுண்டிக்குளி, translit=Cuṇṭikkuḷi; si, චුන්දිකුලි ''Cundikuli'') is a suburb of the city of Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka. Chundikuli means "the pond of the cunti plant" in Tamil and is derived from the Tamil words ''cunti'' (several aquatic plants from the mimosa genus) and ''kuli'' (pond). Chundikuli Girls' College
Chundikuli Girls' College (CGC) is a girls private school in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. It was founded in 1896 by British Anglican missionaries. History Chundikuli Girls' College was founded on 14 January 1896 by Mary Carter of the ''Church Mission Society of the Anglican Church''. The school had only 9 students but by the end of 1896 the number had grown to 30. In 1900 CGC became a grant-in-aid school. The Old Girls' Association was inaugurated in August 1915 by then principal Sophia Lucinda Page. Tamil was first taught as a subject in 1916. The following year the school was registered as a fully organised secondary school making it the first school of this type in the north of Ceylon. CGC relocated to its current location on 6 October 1936. In 1945 CGC started providing free education. In 1947 CGC was recognised as a Grade 1 school. Jaffna Municipal Council ( ta, யாழ்ப்பாணம் மாநகர சபை, translit=Yāḻppāṇam Mānakara Capai; JMC) is the local authority for the city of Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka. JMC is responsible for providing a variety of local public services including roads, sanitation, drains, housing, libraries, public parks and recreational facilities. Jaffna (, ) is the capital city of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It is the administrative headquarters of the Jaffna District located on a peninsula of the same name. ''Grama Niladhari'' (''village officers'') ( si, ග්රාම නිලධාරී) is a Sri Lankan public official appointed by the central government to carry out administrative duties in a ''grama niladhari'' division, which is a sub-unit of a divisional secretariat. They come under the Grama Niladhari Division under the Home Affairs Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. There are 14,022 grama niladhari divisions under 331 divisional secretary’s division in the island. The duties of a ''grama niladhari'' include the reporting of issuing of permits, gathering statistics, maintaining the voter registry and keeping the peace by settlement of personal disputes. Mimosa
''Mimosa'' is a genus of about 590 species of herbs and shrubs, in the mimosoid clade of the legume family Fabaceae. The generic name is derived from the Greek word (''mimos''), an "actor" or "mime", and the feminine suffix -''osa'', "resembling", suggesting its 'sensitive leaves' which seem to 'mimic conscious life'. Two species in the genus are especially notable. One is ''Mimosa pudica'', commonly known as touch-me-not, which folds its leaves when touched or exposed to heat. It is native to southern Central and South America but is widely cultivated elsewhere for its curiosity value, both as a houseplant in temperate areas, and outdoors in the tropics.
