Chuka, Kenya
Chuka is a town on the eastern slopes of Mount Kenya, in Kenya about 65 km south Of Meru Town. It falls within Tharaka-Nithi County and the former Eastern Province. Between 1992 and 2009, Chuka was the capital of Tharaka Nithi District (split off from Meru District). Tharaka Nithi District was further split into Meru South and Tharaka Districts with Chuka remaining the Capital of Meru South. Later, Meru South and Tharaka were amalgamated into Tharaka-Nithi County. Chuka people The people of the area are Gichuka speaking, a dialect of the Kimeru language. Chuka Town is chiefly occupied by the Chuka people, one of the nine Meru dialect Speakers. They dwell on the south-eastern slopes of Mt. Kenya, and cover the area between the Thuci River in the south, and the Nithi River in the north. It is a common tradition with the Chuka that they have always been in the forests of Mt. Kumaon Division
Kumaon (; Kumaoni: ''Kumāū''; ; historically romanized as KemāonJames Prinsep (Editor)John McClelland ) is a revenue and administrative division in the Indian State of Uttarakhand. It spans over the eastern half of the state and is bounded on the north by Tibet, on the east by Nepal, on the south by the state of Uttar Pradesh, and on the west by Garhwal. Kumaon comprises six districts of the state: Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar. Historically known as Manaskhand and then Kurmanchal, the Kumaon region has been ruled by several Hindu dynasties over the course of history; most notably the Katyuris and the Chands. Chuka Man-eating Tiger
The Chuka man-eating tiger was a male Bengal tiger responsible for the death of three boys from Thak (village), Thak village in the Ladhya Valley in 1937. It was shot by Jim Corbett in April 1937 who noted that the animal had a broken canine tooth and several gunshot wounds in various parts of his body. First attacks Before becoming a man-eater, the tiger used to frequent the firetrack running between the villages Chuka (village), Chuka and Kot Kindri, frequently attacking travellers passing along the path. In the book ''Temple Tiger and more Man-Eaters of Kumaon'', Corbett describes two such incidents which occurred in the winter of 1936–37. Chuka Harrison Umunna (; born 17 October 1978) is a British retired politician who served as Member of Parliament (UK), Member of Parliament (MP) for Streatham (UK Parliament constituency), Streatham from 2010 United Kingdom general election, 2010 until 2019 United Kingdom general election, 2019. Chuka Odom (born October 19, 1960) is a Nigerian lawyer and 2015 People's Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for Governor of Imo State. Chuka Momah is a Nigerian sport reporter and administrator, he is a former president of the Nigerian Tennis Federation and the Confederation of African Tennis. In 2013, he published ''Sports Spectacular'', a book about sport stories and analysis of sport in Nigeria. ''Chuka'' is a 1967 American Western (genre), Western film starring Rod Taylor who also produced it and worked on the screenplay. Japanese Chinese cuisine or ''Chūka'' is a style of Japanese cuisine served by Chinese restaurants popularized in Japan in the late 19th century and more recent times. This style of food is different from modern Chinatown Chinese food in Japan which is considered "authentic Chinese food", e.g. Yokohama Chinatown.
