Chuka (film)
''Chuka'' is a 1967 American Western (genre), Western film starring Rod Taylor who also produced it and worked on the screenplay. The film was directed by Gordon Douglas (director), Gordon Douglas and is based on 1961 novel by Richard Jessup, who also wrote the screenplay. Plot The film begins with a U.S. Army commander dictating a report. Held prisoner in the commander's office, in a fort that has been almost totally destroyed, is the Arapaho Indian war chief, Hanu (Marco Lopez). He says very little. Within the fort's ruins have been found a single grave and a Colt pistol once owned by a gunman Hanu describes as a "quiet, lonely man..." At this point the action of the movie commences. A wandering gunman, Chuka (Rod Taylor), rides into an Arapaho camp. It is winter and everyone in the camp is starving, so he gives them some food. Gordon Douglas (director)
Gordon Douglas Brickner (December 15, 1907 – September 29, 1993) was an American film director and actor, who directed many different genres of films over the course of a five-decade career in motion pictures. Early life Born Gordon Douglas Brickner in New York City, he began his career as a child actor, appearing in some films directed by Maurice Costello. He also worked at MGM as a book-keeper. Career Hal Roach and ''Our Gang'' As a teenager, Douglas got a job at the Hal Roach Studios, working in the office and appearing in bit parts in various Hal Roach films. He made walk-on appearances in at least three ''Our Gang'' shorts: '' Teacher's Pet'' (1930), '' Big Ears'' (1931) and ''Birthday Blues'' (1932). ''Beau Geste'' is an adventure novel by British writer P. C. Wren, which details the adventures of three English brothers who enlist separately in the French Foreign Legion following the theft of a valuable jewel from the country house of a relative. Marco Antonio Lopez (born September 10, 1935), also credited as Marco Antonio and Marco Lopez, is an American actor born in Los Angeles, who played several parts in the supporting cast of Jack Webb's Mark VII Limited television series, '' Dragnet'' and '' Adam-12''. He also served as Webb's stand in for long shots. His first Hollywood job was as a stand-in for Elvis Presley in the 1956 movie '' Love Me Tender''. Joseph Anthony Sirola (October 7, 1929 – February 10, 2019) was an American commercial, film, television, theatre actor and theatre producer. Life and career Sirola was born in Carteret, New Jersey to Croatian parents Anton, a carpenter and Ana (née Dubrovich), who ran a boardinghouse at 363 West 19th Street in Chelsea. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1947 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Columbia University in 1951.
