Christopher Chapman
Christopher Chapman (January 24, 1927 – October 24, 2015) was a Canadian film writer, director, editor and cinematographer. Best known for his award-winning 1967 short film '' A Place to Stand'', he also pioneered the multi-dynamic image technique used in films and television shows. Personal life Chapman was born in Toronto, shortly after midnight on January 24, 1927, and just minutes after his twin brother Francis. Christopher and his twin had four elder siblings, Philippa, Howard, Robert, and Sally. Another brother, Julian, died in infancy. They were children of distinguished architect Alfred Hirschfelder Chapman (of Chapman and Oxley) and concert pianist Doris Chapman. In the 1950s, Christopher spent a year in England designing cars for the Ford Motor Company before returning to Canada and becoming a filmmaker. 17th Canadian Film Awards
The 17th Canadian Film Awards were held on May 15, 1965 to honour achievements in Canadian film. Entries this year numbered 104, including four features. Interest in the event, which was hosted by radio personality Max Ferguson, was such that an overflow crowd had to spill into the Hot Stove Club at Maple Leaf Gardens, where they viewed the ceremony on closed-circuit television. The entire Canadian film industry was presented with a special medal to commemorate International Co-Operation Year (ICY), a celebratory designation by the United Nations to direct attention to the common interest and purpose of humanity in achieving peace and human dignity. Robert Cochran (TV Producer)
Robert Cochran (also credited as Bob Cochran) is the co-creator of the television series '' 24.'' Before that, he and Joel Surnow written and produced for the television series ''The Commish''. Joel Surnow
Joel Surnow (born December 18, 1955) is an American television writer, producer and director. He is the co-creator of the action series '' La Femme Nikita'' and '' 24''. Life and career Joel Surnow is of Jewish descent. He was raised in Michigan, and later Los Angeles. Surnow attended the University of California, Berkeley for two years, and eventually graduated from UCLA film school in 1976. Soon after graduation, he began writing for film; he then switched to television. His breakthrough came when he began writing for ''Miami Vice'', in 1984. Academy Award For Best Live Action Short Film
The Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film is an award presented at the annual Academy Awards ceremony. The award has existed, under various names, since 1957. From 1936 until 1956 there were two separate awards, "Best Short Subject, One-reel" and "Best Short Subject, Two-reel", referring to the running time of the short: a standard Reel#Motion picture terminology, reel of film is 1000 feet, or about 11 minutes of run time. A third category "Best Short Subject, color" was used only for 1936 and 1937. From the initiation of short subject awards for 1932 until 1935 the terms were "Best Short Subject, comedy" and "Best Short Subject, novelty". 40th Academy Awards
The 40th Academy Awards honored film achievements of 1967. Originally scheduled for April 8, 1968, the awards were postponed to two days later, April 10, 1968, because of the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Bob Hope was once again the host of the ceremony. Due to the increasing rarity of black and white feature films, the awards for cinematography, art direction and costume design were merged into single categories rather than having a distinction between color and monochrome. The Best Picture nominees were an eclectic group of films reflecting the chaos of their era. The event was the first one since the 1948 awards show to feature film clips from the Best Picture nominated films.
