Christina Olofson
Anna-Maria Christina Olofson (born June 13, 1948 in Kristinehamn, Kristinehamn, Värmlands län, Sweden) is a Swedish film director, producer and scriptwriter. In 1974, after founding the Hagafilm production company with Göran du Rées, she went on to produce a number of films with him. She has since made a number of documentaries on women's contributions to society, including ''A Woman Is a Risky Bet: Six Orchestra Conductors'' (1987) and ''I rollerna tre'' (1996), as well as the feature films ''Honungsvargar'' (1990) and ''Sanning eller konsekvens'' (1997). Biography Born in Kristinehamn in the south of Sweden, Olofson studied at the universities of University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg and Stockholm University, Stockholm. In 1970, she took a course in film editing at Sveriges Television, SVT, the Swedish national television broadcaster, while attending courses on film and theatre at Stockholm's Dramatiska Institutet. Elin Wägner
Elin Matilda Elisabet Wägner (16 May 1882 – 7 January 1949) was a Swedish writer, journalist, feminist, teacher, ecologist and pacifist. She was a member of the Swedish Academy from 1944. Biography Elin Wägner was born in Lund, Sweden as the daughter of a school principal, Wägner was only three years old when her mother died. Wägner's books and articles focus on the subjects of women's emancipation, civil rights, votes for women, the peace movement, welfare, and environmental pollution. She is best known for her commitment to the women's suffrage movement in Sweden, National Association for Women's Suffrage, for founding the Swedish organization Rädda Barnen (the Swedish chapter of the ''International Save the Children Alliance'') and for developing the women's citizen school at Fogelstad (where she was also a teacher on civil rights). Helena Sofia (Helene) Schjerfbeck (; July 10, 1862 – January 23, 1946) was a Finnish painter. A modernist painter, she is known for her realist works and self-portraits, and also for her landscapes and still lifes. Throughout her long life, her work changed dramatically beginning with French-influenced realism and plein air painting. It gradually evolved towards portraits and still life paintings. At the beginning of her career she often produced historical paintings, such as the ''Wounded Warrior in the Snow'' (1880), ''At the Door of Linköping Jail in 1600'' (1882) and ''The Death of Wilhelm von Schwerin'' (1886). Historical paintings were usually the realm of male painters, as was the experimentation with modern influences and French radical naturalism. Kristinehamn
Kristinehamn is a locality and the seat of Kristinehamn Municipality, Värmland County, Sweden, with 17,839 inhabitants in 2010. Geography Kristinehamn is situated by the shores of lake Vänern where the small rivers ''Varnan'' and ''Löt'' drain into the lake. It has a harbour and is a railroad and road transportation center. Nearby towns include Karlskoga and Karlstad and are located exactly in the middle of Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenburg with 250 km to each of them. History The location has had a resident population for centuries, at least since the stone age. The town was then built alongside the bridge over river Varnan. Its name was ''Broo'' (or Bro) until 1642, and "Bro" literally means "Bridge" in Swedish.
