Christina Martin
Christina Martin (born January 1980) is a British writer and former stand-up comedian. She came third in the 2006 Funny Women Awards. She was a feature writer for '' Viz'' magazine between 2006 and 2009. Her articles appear in the annuals 'Last Turkey in the Shop', 'The Council Gritter', 'The Five Knuckle Shuffle' and 'The Cleveland Steamer' and in their thirty year retrospective book 'Anus Horribilis'. Christina wrote for ''New Humanist'' magazine between 2007 and 2009.God Trumps, her feature from the Nov/Dec 2008 issue, is the most viewed online article in the website's history gaining 50,000 hits in one day and has been made into a playable card game. Funny Women
Funny Women is an online and in-person workshop community dedicated to the support of female comedians. It was founded by Lynne Parker in 2002 as a reaction to misogynistic comments from a comedy promoter. Funny Women helps women find their voice, promote them, and assists charities. During the 2019 Funny Women Awards Final, Funny Women announced that their new Patron (renamed “Matron”), would be Jo Brand. Live events Funny Women runs "Stand Up to Stand Out" comedy workshops hosted by Parker. In 2013, Funny Women hosted the first Workshop Weekend at the women-only business club B.Hive in Covent Garden. ''Viz'' is a British adult comic magazine founded in 1979 by Chris Donald. It parodies British comics of the post-war period, notably '' The Beano'' and ''The Dandy'', but with extensive profanity, toilet humour, black comedy, surreal humour and generally sexual or violent storylines. It also sends up tabloid newspapers, with mockeries of articles and letters pages. ''The Atheist's Guide to Christmas'' is a 2009 book written by 42 atheist celebrities, comedians, scientists and writers who give their humorous and serious tips for enjoying the Christmas season as an atheist. It made the Amazon best-seller list on its launch. It is the first atheist charity book campaign with the full book advance and half of the royalties being donated to the UK HIV charity Terrence Higgins Trust. Richard Herring
Richard Keith Herring (born 12 July 1967) is an English stand-up comedian and writer, whose early work includes the comedy double act Lee and Herring (alongside Stewart Lee). He is described by ''The British Theatre Guide'' as "one of the leading hidden masters of modern British comedy". Towards the end of the double act, Herring also worked as a writer, producing four plays. After Lee and Herring went their separate ways he co-wrote the sitcom ''Time Gentlemen Please'', but quickly returned to performance with concept-driven one-person shows like '' Talking Cock'', ''Hitler Moustache'' and ''Christ on a Bike'' as well as regular circuit stand-up.
