Christina Fallin
Christina Marie Fallin (born March 18, 1987) is the daughter of former Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin. She is a lobbyist and a singer. Background Fallin was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is the eldest child and only daughter of Dr. Joseph Price Fallin II and Governor of Oklahoma Mary Fallin. She has one brother, Joseph Price Fallin III (born September 27, 1990). Fallin attended the University of Oklahoma. Career Fallin was a lobbyist starting in January 2010 and resigned when her mother was inaugurated as Governor of Oklahoma on January 15, 2011. She has since started a consulting business. She has also been involved in music projects, including a band called Milk on Milk with her former husband Matt Bacon, and a more recent project called Pink Pony. Joy Harjo
Joy Harjo ( ; born May 9, 1951) is an American poet, musician, playwright, and author. She served as the 23rd United States Poet Laureate, the first Native American to hold that honor. She was also only the second Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to have served three terms (after Robert Pinsky). Harjo is a member of the Muscogee Nation (Este Mvskokvlke) and belongs to Oce Vpofv (Hickory Ground). She is an important figure in the second wave of the literary Native American Renaissance of the late 20th century. She studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts, completed her undergraduate degree at University of New Mexico in 1976, and earned an MFA degree at the University of Iowa in its creative writing program. KFOR-TV (channel 4) is a television station in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States, affiliated with NBC. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group alongside independent station KAUT-TV (channel 43). Both stations share studios in Oklahoma City's McCourry Heights section, where KFOR-TV's transmitter is also located. Oklahoma Governor's Mansion
The Oklahoma Governor's Mansion is the official residence of the governor of Oklahoma and is located at 820 NE 23rd Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Construction After Oklahoma's admission to the Union on November 16, 1907, the Oklahoma Legislature was concerned mainly with establishing the Oklahoma State Capitol and not the Governor's residence. After the completion of the Capitol in 1919, the Legislature began to deliberate about a Governor's residence. The site for the Mansion had been selected in 1914: a plot of land just east of the Capitol. The site would remain a grassy lot for more than a decade while the Legislature debated on funds for the Mansion. Not until 1927 did debate end. Jacqueline Keeler is a Native American writer and activist, enrolled in the Navajo Nation and of Yankton Dakota descent, who co-founded Eradicating Offensive Native Mascotry (EONM), which seeks to end the use of Native American racial groups as mascots. Early life Keeler was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents who had been moved there as part of the Bureau of Indian Affairs Indian relocation programs of the 1950s and 1960s. She is also a graduate of Dartmouth College and has written about recent events there regarding the Native American Program. She is Kinyaa'áanii (Towering House clan) and a citizen of the Navajo Nation. Her mother's family is from Cameron, Arizona, and she is a descendant of Gus Big Horse through her grandmother Jean Big Horse Canyon, a rug weaver. Summer Wesley (born 1981 in Choctaw), who also goes by Chahta Summer, is an attorney, writer, and activist from Oklahoma. She is a member of the Choctaw Nation. Early life and education Summer Wesley was born and raised in rural Southeastern Oklahoma and is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation. She attended school in the small town of Rattan, graduating high school a year early, in 1998. Wesley earned four degrees from the University of Oklahoma: A Bachelor of Liberal Studies (2005), a master's in Administrative Leadership (2008), during which time she also completed the course requirements for a master's in Interprofessional Health & Human Services. She completed her Juris Doctor and Master of Arts in Native American Studies as part of a dual-degree program. Additionally, Wesley received a Certificate in American Indian Law.
