The Miss Louisiana USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Louisiana in the Miss USA pageant. Miss Louisiana USA is produced by RPM Productions since 1990, which also produces the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA state pageants for Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina. RPM Productions' headquarters is in Aiken, South Carolina. Sylvia Masters of Houma, Louisiana was crowned Miss Louisiana USA 2023 on February 4, 2023 at Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie. She will represent Louisiana at Miss USA 2023. History Louisiana is one of only seven states to have three or more Miss USA winners (in 1958, 1961, and 1996). Four Miss Louisiana USA titleholders previously held the Miss Louisiana Teen USA title, including Ali Landry, who became the third woman from Louisiana to be crowned Miss USA. Miss America
Miss America is an annual competition that is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 25. Originating in 1921 as a "bathing beauty revue", the contest is now judged on competitors' talent performances and interviews. As of 2018, there is no longer a swimsuit portion to the contest, or consideration of physical appearance. Miss America travels about 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours, touring the nation and promoting her particular platform of interest. The Miss Louisiana Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Louisiana in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Louisiana is in the top 10 most successful states at Miss Teen USA in terms of number and value of placements. Notable former Miss Louisiana Teen USA titleholders are Miss USA 1996 Ali Landry, Miss Teen USA 2004 Shelley Hennig, Miss Teen USA 2015 Katherine Haik, and Jennifer Dupont, who placed first runner-up at Miss America 2005. Landry and Hennig have gone on to successful acting careers. Candice Stewart, Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2002 was a contestant on CBS's '' Big Brother 15'' in 2013. Miss USA 1960 was the 9th Miss USA pageant, won by Linda Bement of Utah who later became Miss Universe 1960. She was crowned by Miss USA 1959, Terry Huntingdon of California. Miss America 1951, the 24th Miss America pageant, was held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 9, 1950. Miss Louisiana
The Miss Louisiana competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Louisiana in the Miss America pageant. Although no delegate from Louisiana has ever won the Miss America title, four have placed 1st runner-up. As of 2022, Louisiana is the lone member of the Confederacy during the Civil War which has not produced a Miss America. The pageant is held the last week of June at the W. L. Miss USA 1992 was the 41st Miss USA pageant, televised live from the Century II Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas on February 7, 1992. At the conclusion of the final competition, Shannon Marketic of California was crowned by outgoing titleholder Kelli McCarty of Kansas. Shannon became the fifth Miss USA titleholder from California and also the second Miss California USA to win both the Photogenic award and Miss USA crown, making her state the first one to repeat this feat. Shannon LaRhea Marketic (born January 14, 1971), is an American actress and beauty pageant titleholder who was Miss California USA and Miss USA 1992. Biography Pageants Marketic was crowned Miss Arizona Teen USA 1989 but held the title for only a week and a half after it was discovered an error had been made and she had actually placed first runner-up. A few years later, Marketic won the Miss California USA 1992 title after being crowned Miss Malibu USA 1992, and went on to represent California in the Miss USA 1992 pageant, which was broadcast live from Wichita, Kansas in February of that year.
