Christianity In Kanyakumari District
Christianity in Kanyakumari district is its second largest religion. The Catholic Church has about 400,000 followers, while the Protestantism, Protestant groups have about 500,000 members. The Indian Pentecostal Church of God (IPC) is the largest Pentecostal Christian Denomination in India. It has over ten thousand congregations around the world. Its organisational headquarters is at Hebronpuram, Kumbanad, Kerala, India. IPC churches has some similarities with Kerala Brethren especially in orthodoxy and eschatology where IPC founders and large group of early members were from this denomination. Paravar (also known as Bharathar or Bharathakula and sometimes colloquially as 'Fernando') is a Tamil maritime community, mainly living in the state of Tamil Nadu in India and in Sri Lanka. Pandyas aka Bharathavars are the Ancient Sea Farers and Kings who established First Kingdom (first of its kind) in the world.
