Christiane Schreiber
Edele Christiane Margrethe Schreiber (4 October 1822, Voss - 23 November 1898, Oslo) was a Norwegian painter, known primarily for her portraits. Biography Her father Peter August Schreiber (1788-1865) was originally from Roskilde, Denmark and came to Norway as a military officer. @ Onsoski Jaeger Compagni. Her mother Christiane Margrethe Jersin, was the daughter of the Norwegian minister, Georg Burchard Jersin. She moved with her family to Bergen in 1832 and later to Stavanger where her father became a customs agent. Jean-Baptiste-Ange Tissier
Jean-Baptiste-Ange Tissier (6 March 1814, in Paris – 4 April 1876, in Nice) was a French painter in the Romantic style. He was primarily a portraitist and was an official artist of the Second Empire. Biography His parents were originally from Soissons. He began his education there, then continued at the Minor Seminary in Laon. In 1835, he worked in the studios of Ary Scheffer and Paul Delaroche while taking classes at the École des Beaux-arts. He exhibited several portraits at the Salon in 1838 and continued to have showings there on a regular basis throughout his life. Many of his works were purchased by the government. They received awards in 1845 (Third Class Medal), 1847 and 1848 (Second Class Medal), 1855 (Third Class) and 1861 (Second Class). In 1852, along with Charles Landelle and Jean Gigoux, he decorated the waiting rooms for the "Court of Auditors" and the "Council of State" at Orsay Palace (now the Musée d'Orsay). Joséphine of Leuchtenberg (Joséphine Maximilienne Eugénie Napoléone de Beauharnais; 14 March 1807 – 7 June 1876) was Queen of Sweden and Norway from 8 March 1844 to 8 July 1859 as the wife of King Oscar I. She was also Princess of Bologna from birth and Duchess of Galliera from 1813. She was regarded as politically active during the reign of her spouse and acted as his political adviser, actively participating in government affairs. Oscar I (born Joseph François Oscar Bernadotte; 4 July 1799 – 8 July 1859) was King of Sweden and Norway from 8 March 1844 until his death. He was the second monarch of the House of Bernadotte. The only child of King Charles XIV John, Oscar inherited the thrones upon the death of his father. Throughout his reign he would pursue a liberal course in politics in contrast to Charles XIV John, instituting reforms and improving ties between Sweden and Norway. Bjørnstjerne Martinius Bjørnson ( , ; 8 December 1832 – 26 April 1910) was a Norwegian writer who received the 1903 Nobel Prize in Literature "as a tribute to his noble, magnificent and versatile poetry, which has always been distinguished by both the freshness of its inspiration and the rare purity of its spirit". The first Norwegian Nobel laureate, he was a prolific polemicist and extremely influential in Norwegian public life and Scandinavian cultural debate. Amalia Euphrosyne Lindegren (22 May 181427 December 1891) was a Swedish artist and painter. She was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts (1856). Biography Amalia Lindegren was born in Stockholm to Anna Catharina Lindgren (d. 1817), who was married to the caretaker Anders Lindgren. After the death of her mother, she was adopted by the wealthy widow of her alleged biological father, the nobleman Benjamin Sandels. Her position as a child was somewhat humiliating, as a form of charity object for the upper classes, and in her later work, her paintings of sad little girls are believed to be inspired by her childhood. She displayed an early talent, making and selling drawings in the manner of Maria Röhl: she started to paint in oil in 1839, became a student of Sofia Adlersparre in 1842, and participated in her first exhibition the following year.
