Pierre Nouailhetas
Pierre-Marie-Élie-Louis Nouailhetas (1894–1985) was a French naval officer who served as the governor (''gouverneur'') of French Somaliland (''Côte française des Somalis'') from 7 August 1940 until 21 October 1942 during World War II. Nouailhetas was born at Cercoux on 17 December 1894, the second son and child of Louis Nouailhetas, an engineer officer in the navy, and Marie-Anne-Françoise Bertet. He entered the École Navale in 1913. He received two citations during World War I (1914–18). In 1925, he left the navy to join the colonial service. His first posting was as an adjutant (''adjoint'') at Lạng Sơn. In 1927, he was promoted the rank of administrator (''administrateur'') in charge of Tuyên Quang Province. He later served as chief of staff (''chef de cabinet'') to the governor of Cochinchina and then administrator of Bến Tre Province and Cần Thơ Province (1933–36). François Pierre-Alype
François Pierre-Alype (11 April 1886 – 5 February 1956) was a French civil servant and statesman, in post in the colonial administration, then prefect. Biography Pierre-Alype was the nephew of the deputy of the French Settlements in India from 1881 to 1898, Louis Pierre-Alype (1846–1906). Colonial administration He joined the colonial administration in 1906, as chief of staff to the governor of Réunion, then clerk of indigenous affairs in French West Africa (AOF) in 1908. He then co-edited, with Georges Boussenot, the periodical ''La Presse coloniale'', until 1915. Between 1914 and 1916, he was deputy chief of staff of the Under-Secretary of State for Fine Arts. Armand Léon Annet (5 June 1888 – 25 April 1973) was a French colonial governor for various colonies in the French colonial empire. Biography Armand Léon Annet was born in Paris on 1888, in Rue de Babylone. Annet was Governor of French Somaliland from 1935 to 1937. He was Lieutenant-Governor of Dahomey from 1938 to 1940. In 1940, Annet sided with Vichy France after the Fall of France. As the Vichy Governor-General of Madagascar from 1941 to 1942, Annet was involved in the Battle of Madagascar.Jennings, Eric T. Jules Marcel De Coppet
Jules Marcel de Coppet (18 May 1881 in Paris – 31 August 1968 in Quiberville, France) was a French colonial administrator stationed in several countries in Africa before becoming governor-general of French West Africa. He was also a significant figure in the French intellectual and literary life of his time, close to André Gide and especially Roger Martin du Gard, whose daughter he married. Biography Coppet was governor of the colony of Dahomey from 1933 until 1934. From 7 May 1934 to 18 July 1935, he governed French Somaliland. Succeeding Jules Brévié, he became governor-general of French West Africa on September 27, 1936, and retained the position until July 14, 1938. Upon his departure, Léon Geismar took over for a few months until the arrival of Pierre Boisson. He also oversaw the creation of an encyclopedia devoted to Madagascar which was published in 1947.
