Christian Nilsson (golfer)
Christian Lars Nilsson (born 25 May 1979) is a Swedish former professional golfer. Professional career Nilsson was born in Karlstad, Sweden. He turned professional in 1999 with a plus 3 handicap. Nilsson played on the Challenge Tour full-time since 2004, playing few events before then. His first event on the European Tour was the 2005 Open Championship where he missed the cut. His first full season on the European Tour was 2006, and his second in 2007. In 2008 he played on both the Challenge and European Tours with his best finish a runner-up to David Dixon at the Saint-Omer Open, but he did not break through until 2009 at the same event. At the 2009 Saint-Omer Open in June, a week opposite the U.S. Open, Nilsson won his first European Tour event by 6 strokes over Portugal's José-Filipe Lima. The Dutch Open is an annual golf tournament played in the Netherlands, and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the Tour was inaugurated in 1972. 2002 Eisenhower Trophy
The 2002 Eisenhower Trophy took place 24–27 October on the Palm and Bunga Raya courses at Saujana Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was the 23rd World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 63 three-man teams. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team was due to play two rounds on the two courses. The leading teams played on the Bunga Raya course on the third day and were due to play on the Palm course on the final day. After heavy rain and lightning on the final morning, a cut was introduced and only the leading 20 teams played the final round. Positions 21 to 63 were determined by scores after three rounds. The leading 33 teams had played their third round on the Bunga Raya course while the others played on the Palm course. The 1998 Eisenhower Trophy took place 19 to 22 November at Club de Golf Los Leones and Club de Golf La Dehesa in Santiago, Chile. It was the 21st World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 52 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team played two rounds on the two courses. The leading teams played at Club de Golf La Dehesa on the third day and at Club de Golf Los Leones on the final day. Great Britain and Ireland won the Eisenhower Trophy for the fourth time, finishing four strokes ahead of the silver medalists, Australia. Chinese Taipei took the bronze medal with Japan in fourth place. Finland led after three rounds but a poor last round dropped then into fifth place. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. From 2002 the teams have been three players with two counting. The 2004, 2010 and 2012 championships were reduced to 54 holes because of bad weather. The Jacques Léglise Trophy is an annual amateur boys' team golf competition between Great Britain & Ireland and the Continent of Europe. It was first played in 1977, as a one-day match before the Boys Amateur Championship, but since 1996 it has been played as a separate two-day match. The venue generally alternates between Great Britain and Ireland and the continent. The European Boys' Team Championship (Jean-Louis Dupont Trophy) is a European amateur team golf championship for men up to 18 organized by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1980 and it has been played annually since.
