Christian Michael Lopes (born October 1, 1992) is an American former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics. Amateur career In 2006, Lopes was named the Under-13 National Baseball Player of the Year by ''Baseball America''. He played for the United States national baseball team in the 2010 World Junior Baseball Championship. A run batted in (RBI; plural RBIs ) is a statistic in baseball and softball that credits a batter for making a play that allows a run to be scored (except in certain situations such as when an error is made on the play). For example, if the batter bats a base hit which allows a teammate on a higher base to reach home and so score a run, then the batter gets credited with an RBI. The Lansing Lugnuts are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. The Bluefield Blue Jays were a minor league baseball team of the Rookie Appalachian League representing the twin cities of Bluefield, West Virginia, and Bluefield, Virginia.
