Christian Democracy (Italy, 1997)
Rebirth of Christian Democracy (''Rinascita della Democrazia Cristiana'', RDC) was a small Christian-democratic political party in Italy. History On 6 December 1997 a new Christian Democracy was founded by Flaminio Piccoli, a former heavyweight of the defunct DC. In 2000, on the occasion of the regional elections, the Christian Democracy presented itself under the name of the Christian Democratic Party, to circumvent the ban on presenting itself with the historical name of the DC. With the death of the founder Piccoli in April 2000, the party split into two parts. On one side, Carlo Senaldi took over the leadership of ''Rebirth of Christian Democracy'', that on the occasion of the 2001 general elections sided with Sergio D'Antoni and his party European Democracy. The national (organizational) secretary Angelo Sandri was a candidate in a constituency of the Chamber in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where the movement was also presented in the provincial elections of that same year. Christian Democracy
Christian democracy (sometimes named Centrist democracy) is a political ideology that emerged in 19th-century Europe under the influence of Catholic social teaching and neo-Calvinism. It was conceived as a combination of modern democratic ideas and traditional Christian values, incorporating social justice and the social teachings espoused by the Catholic, Lutheran, Reformed, Pentecostal, and other denominational traditions of Christianity in various parts of the world. After World War II, Catholic and Protestant movements of neo-scholasticism and the Social Gospel shaped Christian democracy. Christian Democracy (''Democrazia Cristiana'', DC), also known as Christian Democracy – Third Pole of the Centre (''Democrazia Cristiana – Terzo Polo di Centro''), is a minor Christian-democratic political party in Italy. It was founded in July 2004 by Angelo Sandri following is expulsion from the Christian Democracy led by Giuseppe Pizza. Since then the party has taken part in long legal battles on the property of the symbol and the name of the original Christian Democracy with its rival party. In the 2007 local elections, the party formed a temporary alliance with the Christian Democracy for the Autonomies of Gianfranco Rotondi, while in the 2008 general election it was part of the Union of the Centre alliance led by Pier Ferdinando Casini. Christian Democracy for the Autonomies ( it, Democrazia Cristiana per le Autonomie, DCA) was a minor Christian-democratic political party in Italy. History DCA was founded on 25 October 2004 by a split from the Union of Christian and Centre Democrats (UDC) led by Gianfranco Rotondi, who wanted closer ties with Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia and who criticised the political line of the then-leader of UDC Marco Follini. The party became part of the centre-right coalition following its foundation. The party was part of the House of Freedoms coalition in the 2006 general election, competing the election in an electoral list with the New Italian Socialist Party.
