Christian Connection is an online dating service aimed at single Christians in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong. Christian Connection is owned and operated by Widernet Communications Ltd based in London, UK. History Christian Connection was founded by Jackie Elton and the UK site was launched at the Greenbelt Festival in August 2000. It opened for registrations shortly after in September of the same year. The site received some media attention in early 2001, featuring on the front page of the Daily Telegraph on 17 April 2001. Greenbelt Festival
Greenbelt Festival is a festival of arts, faith and justice held annually in England since 1974. Greenbelt has grown out of an evangelical Christian music festival with an audience of 1,500 young people into its current form, a more inclusive festival attended at its peak around 2010 by around 20,000, including Christians and those from other faiths. The festival regularly attracts the biggest names of Christian music and many mainstream musicians. UK Dating Awards, shortened to the UKDAs, are annual awards given for excellence in the British dating industry. The UKDAs were first conferred in 2014. The nominations in each category are generated by self-entry. Entries are then shortlisted, and winners voted on by a panel of industry experts. Certain categories are voted for in a public vote. Speed dating is a formalized matchmaking process which has the purpose of encouraging eligible singles to meet large numbers of new potential partners in a very short period of time. Organization Usually advance registration is required for speed dating events. People are rotated to meet each other over a series of short "dates" typically lasting from three to eight minutes depending on the organization running the event. At the end of each interval, the organizer rings a bell, clinks a glass, or blows a whistle to signal the participants to move on to the next date.
