Christian Chartier
Christian Chartier (born December 29, 1980) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman who last played for Augsburger Panther in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career Junior Chartier played junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Saskatoon Blades and Prince George Cougars. Chartier was drafted 199th overall in the 1999 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. During his final season in the WHL ( 2000-01), Chartier was awarded the Bill Hunter Trophy as the WHL's Top Defenceman. While playing in Prince George, Chartier spent much of his time paired with Dan Hamhuis of the Vancouver Canucks. After the 2000-01 season, Chartier and Hamhuis were both named to the WHL's First All-Star Team. Defenceman (ice Hockey)
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Dan Hamhuis
Daniel Hamhuis (born December 13, 1982) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in 2001 by the Nashville Predators. Hamhuis played major junior hockey with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and was selected 12th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The following year, he was awarded the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy and Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as the league's best defenceman and player of the year, respectively; he would also be named the top defenceman in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), the governing body of major junior hockey in Canada. Goal (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team. The 2000–01 WHL season was the 35th season for the Western Hockey League. Eighteen teams completed a 72-game season. Vålerenga Ishockey
Vålerenga Ishockey (; abbreviated as VIF) is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in Oslo, Norway. Vålerenga has been the dominant force in Norwegian hockey since the 1960s, claiming 26 national championships and 29 regular season titles. Eliteserien, known as Fjordkraftligaen due to sponsorship, is the premier Norwegian ice hockey league, organised by the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association. Las Vegas Wranglers
The Las Vegas Wranglers were a professional ice hockey team based in Las Vegas Valley. The Wranglers were members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League). The Wranglers were founded as an expansion franchise in 2003 following the ECHL's takeover of the West Coast Hockey League. In May 2014, the team suspended operations for the 2014–15 ECHL season, allowing it time to secure a new home arena. In 2015, the team withdrew from the ECHL after being unable to find a home arena for the 2015-16 season. The Wranglers won many accolades over their time in the league.
