Christ Lutheran Church, Narsapur
Christ Lutheran Church is a congregation in the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church and is a member church of the West Godavari synod. It is a major A class parish and is a mother church to several smaller and younger congregations in and around Narsapur, West Godavari. The current pastors are Rev. V.Rajendra Sundar and Assist.pastor Rev.P.P.S.kiran. The church follows the Lutheran liturgical traditions. History The corner stone was established in 1923 by Fr. Barger and Fr. Heyer and the Church was started in 1929 and is therefore more recent than other churches in the synod. Several pastors have ministered in this church including some Europeans in the early years. The church register is a rich historical record of the events that have taken place in the church since 1929. Architecture The church is considered a landmark in the town. Narsapur, West Godavari
Narasapuram, or Narsapur, is a city in West Godavari district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and mandal headquarters of Narasapuram mandal in Narasapuram revenue division. The city is situated on the banks of the Vasista Godavari River. The lace industry is prevalent in the city and its surroundings. Etymology Narsapur was also known as "Nrusimhapuri", named after the Lord Narasimha. Gradually it changed into Narasimhapuram and now to Narasapuram. It is also known as Abhinavabhutapuri. History The existence of Narsapur dates back to 1173 AD. Dutch people landed in Narsapur in 1626. Narsapur was used as a port by the Dutch and ships and boats were built here. It was noted for its ship building activity and some of the Europeans also were customers at this place; small boats are still built in Narsapur. Meneely Bell Foundry
The Meneely Bell Foundry was a bell foundry established in 1826 in West Troy (now Watervliet), New York, by Andrew Meneely. Two of Andrew's sons continued to operate the foundry after his death, while a third son, Clinton H. Meneely, opened a second foundry across the river with George H. Kimberly in Troy, New York in 1870. Initially named the Meneely Bell Company of Troy, this second foundry was reorganized in 1880 as the Clinton H. Meneely Company, then again as the Meneely Bell Company. Together, the two foundries produced about 65,000 bells before they closed in 1952. A platinum jubilee is a celebration held to mark an anniversary. Among monarchies, it usually refers to a 70th anniversary. The most recent monarch to celebrate a platinum jubilee is Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms in June 2022.
