Christ's School Ado Ekiti
Christ's School, Ado Ekiti is a day and boarding, government-owned secondary school located in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Originally conceived as a boys school, it attained a co-educational status when, in 1966, it was merged with its girls arm, known then as Ekiti Anglican Girls Secondary School (EAGSS). However, it runs today as a boys school, independent of the girls arm, situated directly opposite to it. History It was founded on 30 June 1933 by the British missionary, Archdeacon Henry Dallimore. Originally christened 'Ekiti Central School,' it began as a co-educational secondary school, taking students into classes V and VI. It took the name, 'Christ's School, Ado Ekiti,' following the recommendation of Sir Bernard Henry Bourdillon, the governor of then Northern and Southern Protectorates of Nigeria. Ado-Ekiti
Ado Ekiti is the capital city of Ekiti State, Nigeria. It is the headquarter of the Ekiti central senatorial district, southwest, Nigeria. History Ado Ewi is an ancient city, founded by Ewi Awamaro the son of Biritikolu. Awamaro (the restless one) left Ile-Ife with his father Ewi Apa Biritikolu and his uncle Oranmiyan to both Ita Orogun and Benin respectively after staying briefly with Oloba in Oba-Ile, in present day Akure. Both Oranmiyan (Oba of Benin) and Biritikolu first settled in Benin forests before disputes among their people led them to separate and Biritikolu sought a new home westward at Utamodi (Oke Papa). Ewi Biritikolu and one of his sons reigned there. It was Ewi Awamaro who migrated to Ilesun (Present day Ado-Ekiti) after staying briefly at Udoani (Ido Ani) and Agbado during the long migration. Sam Aluko
Samuel Aluko (August 18, 1929 – February 7, 2012) was a Nigerian public economist and scholar who wrote articles and papers that analyzed government's social and economic policies. Aluko also played advisory role to some political leaders such as Obafemi Awolowo and Sani Abacha. The latter opportunity was considered unusual because of Aluko's early radical stance in opposition to government excess. Aluko's political and economic thought are marked by criticism of opulence in the political class and increasing government income as a means to fund economic development. Samuel Asabia
Samuel Oyewole Asabia (1931–1993) was a Nigerian economist, administrator and banker who was permanent secretary Western Region Ministry of Finance from 1966 to 1970. He later became the first indigenous chief executive and managing director of First Bank of Nigeria in 1975. Asabia was head of a few organizations and committees that brought him into prominence. Between 1970 and 1975, he was deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and also chairman of the Securities Issues Commission which later became Securities Exchange Commission.
