Christopher Barry Wood (born November 25, 1969) is an American bassist with the jazz trio Medeski Martin & Wood and The Wood Brothers. Biography Wood was raised in Boulder, Colorado, where he studied jazz and classical music. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music in 1989. His teachers included Geri Allen, Dave Holland, and Bob Moses. Reducing his classes, he accompanied Moses and John Medeski as sidemen for a tour, then played with them in New York City. He formed Medeski Martin & Wood in 1991 with Medeski and Billy Martin. Wood also collaborates with his brother, Oliver Wood in the band The Wood Brothers. Medeski produced their debut album, ''Ways Not to Lose''. Christopher Gordon Blandford Wood (24 June 1944 – 12 July 1983) was a British rock musician, best known as a founding member of the rock band Traffic, along with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Dave Mason. Career Born in Quinton,Stephanie Wood a suburb of Birmingham, Chris Wood had an interest in music and painting from early childhood. Self-taught on flute and saxophone, which he began playing at the age of 15, he began to play locally with other Birmingham musicians who would later find international fame in music: Christine Perfect (later Christine McVie), Carl Palmer, Stan Webb and Mike Kellie. Wood played with Perfect in 1964 in the band Shades of Blue and with Kellie during 1965–1966 in the band Locomotive. Chris Wood is an English songwriter and composer who plays fiddle, viola and guitar, and sings. His previous assignments included Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to China (2016-19), Representative, British Office Taipei from 2013 to 2016, Minister, British Embassy Beijing (2008–2012), Director for the Americas, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2007–2008) and the British Consul-General to Guangzhou (2003–2006). He played college basketball for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels.
