Chris Taylor (comedian)
Christopher Thornton Taylor (born 15 July 1974) is an Australian comedy writer, performer and broadcaster from Sydney. As a member of The Chaser, he is best known for co-writing and appearing on satirical ABC Television shows ''CNNNN'' (2002–2003) and '' The Chaser's War on Everything'' (2006 – July 2009). He formerly co-hosted the drive radio show '' Today Today'' (2004–05) on Triple J with fellow Chaser member Craig Reucassel, and in 2007, he wrote the musical comedy '' Dead Caesar''. Taylor also hosted the mini documentary series 'Australia's Heritage: National Treasures'. In 2010, with his Chaser colleague Andrew Hansen, Taylor made a musical comedy series for Triple J titled ''The Blow Parade'', which became the number one podcast in the country, and won the 2010 ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release. ''The Chaser election specials'' are a number of Australian political satire based comedy programs produced by The Chaser. The shows, which have run under various titles, provide commentary on Australian federal election and has been produced since 2001 for ABC TV. The first show, ''The Election Chaser'' in 2001 was the first ever television production of the Chaser team. In 2004 and 2007 they produced ''The Chaser Decides'' which won the Logie Award for "Most Outstanding Comedy Program" for the 2004 series. Andrew Christopher Denton (born 4 May 1960) is an Australian television producer, comedian, Gold Logie-nominated television presenter and former radio host, and was the host of the ABC's weekly television interview program ''Enough Rope'' and the ABC game show '' Randling''. He is known for his comedy and interviewing technique. He is also responsible for introducing the troupe of ''The Chaser'' to Australian audiences. Charles Henry Danger Burgmann Firth is an Australian comedian, best known as a member of The Chaser productions ''CNNNN'' and ''The Chaser's War on Everything''. Biography Early years He is the brother of Verity Firth, who was a Minister for the Labor Government of New South Wales. Firth attended Sydney Grammar School, where along with Chaser colleagues Dominic Knight and Chas Licciardello he ran the satirical school magazine ''The Tiger''. Julian Francis Xavier Morrow (born 1975) is an Australian comedian and television producer from Sydney. He is best known for being a member of the satirical team The Chaser. Cricketer
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. 1998 Esso Longford Gas Explosion
The Esso Longford gas explosion was a catastrophic industrial accident which occurred at the Esso natural gas plant at Longford in the Australian state of Victoria's Gippsland region. On 25 September 1998, an explosion took place at the plant, killing two workers and injuring eight. Gas supplies to the state of Victoria were severely affected for two weeks. Context In 1998, the Longford gas plant was owned by a joint partnership between Esso and BHP. Esso was responsible for the operation of the plant. Esso was a wholly owned subsidiary of US based company Exxon, which has since merged with Mobil, becoming ExxonMobil. Built in 1969, the plant at Longford is the onshore receiving point for oil and natural gas output from production platforms in Bass Strait.
