Chris Stroud
Christopher James Stroud (born February 3, 1982) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. He finally got his first professional win on August 6, 2017 at the Barracuda Championship after 290 starts on the PGA Tour. Early career Stroud was born in Groves, Texas. He played college golf at Lamar University and was a two-time All-American. As an amateur, he won the 2003 North and South Amateur and played on the 2004 Palmer Cup team. Professional career Stroud turned pro in 2004. He played on mini-tours until earning his PGA Tour card at the 2006 (T16), 2007 (3rd), and 2008 (T4) Qualifying schools. He was not able to finish high enough on the money list to retain his card until 2009 when he finished 113th. Groves, Texas
Groves is a city in Jefferson County, Texas, United States. The population was 17,335 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Beaumont– Port Arthur Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In 1886, Sam Courville moved his family from a Sabine Lake settlement in Port Arthur to a new home on of land. It was in that same general area around 1911 that John Warne Gates purchased additional tracts of land. The land was conveyed to the Griffing brothers of Port Arthur in 1916, and three years later Griffing Brothers Nursery employee Wiley Choate supervised the planting of several thousand pecan trees on a tract. In 1921, the Port Arthur Land Development Company took control of the site and divided the land into a residential subdivision known as "Pecan Grove". Richard Raymond Werenski (born December 22, 1991) is an American professional golfer. Early life Werenski was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, but grew up in South Hadley and played golf at The Orchards Golf Club. He played college golf at Georgia Tech. He won the 2012 Porter Cup. Professional career Werenski turned professional after graduating from Georgia Tech in 2014. The 2004 Palmer Cup was held on 6–7 August 2004 at Ballybunion Golf Club in County Kerry, Ireland. Europe won 14½–9½. Format On Friday, there were four matches of four-ball in the morning, followed by eight singles matches in the afternoon. Four foursomes matches were played on the Saturday morning with a further eight singles in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches were played. Each of the 24 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole, each side earned half a point toward their team total. The Players Championship
The Players Championship (commonly known as simply The Players, stylized by the PGA Tour as The PLAYERS Championship) is an annual golf tournament on the PGA Tour. Originally known as the Tournament Players Championship, it began in 1974. The Players Championship at one point offered the highest purse of any tournament in golf ($20 million). The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious.
