Chris Stephens
Christopher Charles Stephens (born 20 March 1973) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow South West since the 2015 general election. He has been serving as SNP Spokesperson for Levelling Up since December 2022. Early life and career Stephens was born in Glasgow and was educated at Trinity High School, Renfrew and James Watt College in Greenock, where he studied public administration. He joined the SNP at the age of sixteen. He completed an apprenticeship at Strathclyde Regional Council before working at the council. Stephens then worked for the Glasgow City Council. During this time, he joined the trade union UNISON. Initially Stephens was their youth officer in Glasgow and was later promoted in that branch to treasurer and then vice-chair. SNP Trade Union Group
The SNP Trade Union Group (TUG) is a constituent structure and the largest affiliated organisation of the Scottish National Party (SNP). Formed in the mid to late 1960s as the Association of Scottish Nationalist Trade Unionists (ASNTU), the original goals of the organisation were to recruit members to the SNP in the trade union movement and attract Labour-voting trade unionists to Scottish independence. Refounded as the TUG in 2014 in the lead up to the independence referendum, membership grew from 800 in September of that year to 16,000 by July 2015. ''STV News'' is a Scottish news service produced by STV. The news department produces two regional services covering STV's Channel 3 franchise areas of Northern and Central Scotland. The 2014 European Parliament election was the United Kingdom's component of the 2014 European Parliament election, held on Thursday 22 May 2014, coinciding with the 2014 local elections in England and Northern Ireland. Johann MacDougall Lamont (; born 11 July 1957) is a Scottish Labour Co-operative politician who served as Leader of the Scottish Labour Party from 2011 to 2014. She was previously a junior Scottish Executive minister from 2004 to 2007 and Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party from 2008 until her election to the leadership in 2011. The 2007 Scottish Parliament election was held on Thursday 3 May 2007 to elect members to the Scottish Parliament. It was the third general election to the devolved Scottish Parliament since it was created in 1999. Local elections in Scotland fell on the same day. The Scottish National Party emerged as the largest party with 47 seats, closely followed by the incumbent Scottish Labour Party with 46 seats. Glasgow Pollok is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament ( Holyrood), being one of eight constituencies within the Glasgow City council area.
