Chris Reece
Christopher Reece (sometimes known as Chris Reece) (born July 28, 1959) is an American musician. He was the drummer of The Lewd (1981–1983) and Social Distortion (1984–1993). Reece was 22 years old in 1981 when he started playing drums for The Lewd. He left the band in 1983. The following year he was hired by Mike Ness to join Social Distortion, along with bassist John Maurer. Reece's first recording with the band was the 1988 release ''Prison Bound''. He also played drums on their next two albums, the eponymous ''Social Distortion'' (1990) and ''Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell'' (1992). Reece left Social Distortion in 1993 and was replaced by Randy Carr. In 1998 Reece started producing an antique shopping guide called Reece's Antique and Retro Shopper's Map. He learned about antiques from his parents who had bought and sold antiques in the 1950s and 1960s. Social Distortion
Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band currently consists of Mike Ness (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jonny Wickersham (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Brent Harding (bass, backing vocals), David Hidalgo Jr. (drums), and David Kalish (keyboards). Starting as a hardcore punk band in the late 1970s to the early 1980s, Social Distortion went on a temporary hiatus in the mid-1980s, due to Ness's drug addiction and troubles with the law which resulted in extended stints in various rehabilitation centers that lasted for two years. Following their reformation, the band has shifted its style to a country, blues and early rock and roll-influenced style of punk. Mike Ness
Michael Daniel Ness (born April 3, 1962) is an American musician who is the lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for the punk rock band Social Distortion, which was formed in 1978. Early life Ness was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on April 3, 1962. His family relocated to Orange County, California, later that year, and he grew up in Fullerton. As a child, he idolized gangsters such as John Dillinger and Bonnie and Clyde. At a young age, his parents divorced and he was later kicked out of his father and stepmother's home in Fullerton when he was around 15 or 16 years old for incorrigible behavior. During his early years, Ness was raised on the blues, country and early rock n' roll. As he drifted around Orange County, Ness became involved in the punk rock scene. In the 1980s, Ness was the original renter of the one-bedroom apartment described in The Adolescents song " Kids of the Black Hole". The punk house is located in Fullerton and still exists today. John Maurer (Social Distortion)
John Maurer (born July 14, 1961) is an American musician who was a longtime bass guitarist for Social Distortion from 1984 to 2004. Career He joined Social Distortion in early 1984 following the departure of Brent Liles. He played on every album from ''Prison Bound'' to ''Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll''. He has a songwriting credit on the song "So Far Away" from Social Distortion's 1990 eponymous album along with frontman Mike Ness. In his later career he started two bands, Foxy and Fuel, while still playing for Social Distortion. He also started his own record company called Slip Records. He stated in an interview with HM Magazine that, while in Social Distortion, he became a devout Christian. He was replaced by Rancid's Matt Freeman in August 2004. Prison Bound
''Prison Bound'' is the second studio album by Social Distortion, released in 1988. It was the first album with bass guitarist John Maurer and drummer Christopher Reece. It expands the punk rock sound of the band's first album, '' Mommy's Little Monster'' (1983), by adding influences from country music and blues rock. Social Distortion left then-independent Restless / Enigma Records in 1989 and moved to Epic Records for their major label debut self-titled album. The first track, "It's the Law", is a remake of "Justice for All", which appeared on the 1981 compilation album ''The Future Looks Bright'' (and later on the 1995 compilation album '' Mainliner: Wreckage from the Past''). ''Social Distortion'' is the third studio album by the American punk rock band of the same name, released on March 27, 1990, through Epic Records, their first recording on that label. The album furthered the rockabilly, blues and country music experimentation of their previous album with songs like "Drug Train" and the radio hit "Ball and Chain". The focus on the alternative rock scene helped bring attention to ''Social Distortion''. Randy Carr
Randy Carr (August 13, 1956 – March 27, 2002) was an American musician who played drums in many rock music groups in the Orange County, California, Orange County area of Southern California including 7th Grade, Silicone Silos, 16 Tons, and Social Distortion. Carr also played guitar. Early life Randy Carr was born in Santa Monica, California and started playing drums at the age of 12 years. Over the years he played Carr lived and worked in Fullerton, California. In addition to playing drums in local bands, he was a drum instructor and wrote the book, ''Advanced Grooves for the Advanced Drummer'' as an aid for his students. Career In 1993, Carr joined up with former The Mechanics guitarist Tim Racca to form 16 Tons.
