Chris Porter (basketball)
Christopher Bernard Porter (born May 9, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. Known for his large afro hairstyle and giant vertical leap, he created excitement early in his career with his dunking and rebounding abilities. Largely seen as too undersized to play power forward at the NBA level, his style fit in perfectly with coach Cliff Ellis' style of full court pressure while playing at Auburn. Early life Porter was born and raised in Abbeville, Alabama, a small town with "just three streetlights" and a few thousand people. He attended Abbeville High where he helped the school win the 4A State Championship as a senior. He subsequently earned 4A State Player of the Year honors. College career Between 1996 and 1998, Porter played college basketball for Chipola College where he earned JUCO All-American honors. Chris Porter (November 27, 1979) is an American comedian and finalist on Last Comic Standing 4, season 4 of ''Last Comic Standing''. He has also appeared on The Bob & Tom Show, Comedy Central's ''Live Tour'', and appeared on Live at Gotham in Summer 2006. In 2009, Porter made an appearance on Comedy Central Presents. Thomas Christopher Porter (25 October 1885 – 4 June 1915) was an English amateur footballer who played in the Football League for Stockport County and Glossop as an inside forward. He scored 7 goals in 4 appearances for England Amateurs, including two hat-tricks in a 9–0 win against Germany, which still is the team's highest defeat of its history, and against France in a 11–0 victory. He scored a further 5 goals for the Amateurs side in unofficial matches, a brace in a 5–1 win over Ireland in 1908 and yet another hat-trick in a 6–0 win over Wales in 1909, bringing his tally to 12 goals. He was also part of Great Britain's squad for the football tournament at the 1908 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. Christopher Ian Porter (born 10 November 1979) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for Darlington and York City. Early life Christopher Ian Porter was born on 10 November 1979 in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. Career Porter started his career with the Sunderland youth system and signed a professional contract on 1 August 1998. He left to play for Darlington from 7 March to 21 September 2000 as cover for Andy Collett. He joined Hartlepool United before leaving on 11 November to join Southend United. He played for them until the end of the 2000–01 season, leaving on 5 April 2001. Christopher John Porter (born 12 December 1983) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Oldham Athletic Porter began his career at Third Division side Bury, where he scored 20 goals in 78 appearances between 2003 and 2005. This prompted a move to League One club Oldham Athletic. He moved to the Scottish Premier League with Motherwell in 2007, before returning to England with Championship club Derby County. He dropped down a division in 2011, joining Sheffield United. With the Blades, he made over 100 appearances in 3½ years, scoring 23 goals. He had two short loan spells away from the club, playing for Shrewsbury Town and Chesterfield. He then joined Colchester United in January 2015, where he scored 30 goals in 95 appearances over 2½ seasons. Chris Porter (born May 29, 1984 in Thunder Bay, Ontario) is a Canadian-American former professional ice hockey left winger who played in the National Hockey League for the St. Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild. He was drafted in the ninth round, 282nd overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Prior to his professional career, Porter played collegiate hockey at the University of North Dakota.
