Chris Patton (golfer)
Chris Patton (born November 20, 1967) is an American professional golfer, best known for his large size and for winning the 1989 U.S. Amateur. Early life Patton was born in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. He played college golf at Clemson University where he won five events and was a three-time All-American. While at Clemson, he won the 1989 U.S. Amateur at Merion Golf Club. The win earned him invitations to the first three majors in 1990. He finished as the low amateur (T-39) at the Masters Tournament. He turned professional after the 1990 U.S. Amateur. Professional career Patton played on the Nationwide Tour from 1993 to 1995, winning once at the 1993 Nike New Mexico Charity Classic. He also played on the Canadian Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, and the NGA Hooters Tour, winning once on each tour. Fountain Inn, South Carolina
Fountain Inn is a city in Greenville and Laurens counties in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 7,799 at the 2010 census, up from 6,017 in 2000. It is part of the Greenville– Mauldin– Easley Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The Cannon Building, Fairview Presbyterian Church, Fountain Inn High School, Fountain Inn Principal's House and Teacherage, McDowell House, Robert Quillen Office and Library, Tullyton, and F. Doug Martin (born December 8, 1966) is an American professional golfer. Martin was born in Bluffton, Ohio. As an amateur, he won the 1984 U.S. Junior Amateur, was semi-finalist at 1988 U.S. Amateur, and played on the 1989 Walker Cup team. He played college golf at University of Oklahoma where he won three events and was a three-time All-American. He graduated and turned professional in 1989. Martin played on the Nationwide Tour and PGA Tour from 1991 to 1999. On the Nationwide Tour (1991, 1993), he won the 1993 Nike South Texas Open. On the PGA Tour (1992, 1994–99), his best finish was a playoff loss to Vijay Singh at the 1995 Buick Classic. The PGA Championship (often referred to as the US PGA Championship or USPGA outside the United States) is an annual golf tournament conducted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America. It is one of the four men's major championships in professional golf. It was formerly played in mid-August on the third weekend before Labor Day weekend, serving as the fourth and final men's major of the golf season. The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom. Mark Wurtz
Mark Wurtz (October 31, 1964 – March 25, 2020) was an American professional golfer. Wurtz was born in Yakima, Washington. He played college golf at the University of New Mexico and turned pro in 1986. Wurtz played mini-tours and the Canadian Tour before earning his PGA Tour card for the 1994 season in Q School. Between 1994 and 2005, he played on both the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. On the PGA Tour (1994–95, 1998), his best finish was T-8 at the 1994 Motorola Western Open. On the Nationwide Tour (1996–97, 1999–2005), he won the 1997 Nike Shreveport Open. Wurtz died at his home after a lengthy illness.
