Chris Parkinson (musician)
Chris Parkinson (born 31 March 1950) is a British folk musician. He was a co-founder of the British folk band The House Band (1984-2001), playing accordion, harmonica, melodeon and keyboards. He has also performed with John Kirkpatrick in the accordion duo, 'The Sultans of Squeeze', who were included in nominations as 'duo of the year' in the 2006 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Career Chris Parkinson has played music since the age of five, starting with the harmonica. Folk music is a music genre that includes traditional folk music and the contemporary genre that evolved from the former during the 20th-century folk revival. Topic Records is a British folk music label, which played a major role in the second British folk revival. Fledg'ling Records
Fledg'ling Records is a British independent record label founded in 1991. The label has re-released some albums previously issued by Hokey Pokey Records which was also run by the Fledg'ling founder—David Suff. David Suff having been half of the team running the Richard Thompson fanzine—"Hokey Pokey" (named after a Richard and Linda Thompson LP). Both record labels specialise in classic and new British folk and folk-rock. Fledg'ling is based in London. Their first release was ''Alright Jack'' by Home Service in 1991 (FLY 001). Indeed, no other records can be traced on the label until another album by Home Service "Wild Life" in 1995. Many of the early releases feature contributions by Graeme Taylor. The graphic artist David Suff is the only publicly acknowledged name to be associated with the label. Green Linnet Records was an American independent record label that specialized in Celtic music. Founded by Lisa Null and Patrick Sky as Innisfree Records in 1973, the label was initially based in Null's house in New Canaan, Connecticut. In 1975, the label became Innisfree/Green Linnet and Wendy Newton joined Null and Sky as operating officer. In 1976, Newton took over control of the now Green Linnet label and moved it to Danbury, Connecticut in 1985. Newton became sole owner in 1978. Newton's love of Irish music had been sparked during a visit to Ireland where she heard traditional music for the first time in a small pub in County Clare. Sir William Connolly (born 24 November 1942) is a Scottish actor, retired comedian, artist, writer, musician, and presenter. The House Band
The House Band was a musical group formed in Edinburgh in 1984 by musicians Ged Foley (vocals, guitar), Jimmy Young ( smallpipes, flute, whistle), Iain Macleod (guitar, mandolin) and Chris Parkinson (melodeon, keyboards, piano accordion and harmonica). They played original compositions and traditional music in a Celtic/British folk style, with influences from reggae, country, pop, jazz and world music. Nicholas Stephen Phillips (born 18 February 1948) is an English blues and country musician, as well as guitar maker (under the name "N.S. Phillips") and painter.
