Chris Murray (soccer)
Chris Murray (born January 3, 1985, in Roslyn, New York) is a retired American soccer player who most recently played for Wilmington Hammerheads in the USL Professional Division. Career College & Amateur Murray played college soccer at the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 2004 to 2007, where he was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association second team as a junior in 2005 Murray also played for the Indiana Invaders in the USL Premier Development League. Professional Murray turned professional in 2008 when he joined the Wilmington Hammerheads in the USL Second Division. He made his professional debut on April 26, 2008, as a substitute in Wilmington's 2-0 opening day loss to the Bermuda Hogges. Murray stayed with Wilmington for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. After a year out of the game while the Hammerheads were on hiatus, Murray returned to Wilmington for the 2011 season, signing with the club on March 7, 2011. Roslyn, New York
Roslyn ( ) is a village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is the Greater Roslyn area's anchor community. The population was 2,770 at the 2010 census. History Roslyn was initially settled by colonists in the year 1643. It was originally called Hempstead Harbor, but its name was changed to Roslyn in 1844 due to postal confusion regarding all the other "Hempsteads" scattered about Long Island. The name "Roslyn" was selected as the new name, as its location in a valley reminded officials of Roslin, Scotland. Roslyn was incorporated as a village on January 11, 1932. Its first Mayor was Albertson W. Hicks, who was unanimously elected two days later, on January 13. The former Rubel estate in the village was developed as the Roslyn Pines subdivision in the 1950s, consisting of roughly 102 homes. The Ellen E. United Soccer Leagues 2009
The 2009 season is the 23rd season played by the United Soccer Leagues. Season titles will be contested by 20 professional men's clubs in the USL First Division and USL Second Division, as well as 37 professional and amateur women's clubs in the W-League and 68 professional and amateur men's teams in the USL Premier Development League. The First Division season kicked off on April 11 with the US Open Cup finalist Charleston Battery and host defending champions Vancouver Whitecaps FC playing to a scoreless tie, while the Carolina RailHawks defeated the visiting Minnesota Thunder 2–1. The season ended on September 20 with the Charleston Battery defeating hosts Minnesota Thunder 3–2. As a change for this season, the Finals will follow the rest of the playoffs in being two legs.
